Hawaii to Arizona

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to move to Scottsdale in August and have been trying to look for new grad programs online but it just seems discouraging. :sorry: I have a BSN & RN license from Hawaii. Most applications require experience and though I've graduated last year, I've only been working as a CA since there are more new grads than there are positions here. Just wanted to know how difficult it is for new grads to find positions in this area and if people really need to start off as nurse aides (just like Hawaii) and work up to becoming a new grad nurse. I'm really anxious and don't know what to expect, so any advice really would help. In the mean time, I'll try to keep my head up and keep searching online for any new grad positions.

There are very few there

I'm planning on moving to the same area within the next few months! I'm from Pennsylvania and am an RN with a BSN as well with only 2 months experience at a nursing home.. I've been trying to search for positions but keep getting denied because of my "lack of experience". It's so frustrating!!!

sfarn, same here! I've just been getting denied, feels like I applied to a ton of positions and haven't even gotten an opportunity for an interview... it's tough

It's very competitive here for new grads. I graduated in Dec with my BSN and am still looking after applying for 50+ positions. I hear hiring picks up in the summer months as hospitals staff up before the winter rush, but there are simply too many new grads being churned out every year.

Bronze is you dont mind working with Sick kids with home care and trachs (they train you) I know MGA home health hires new grad RNs and they have jobs in phoenix scottsdale area you just need a car to drive to pts house.

Dignity Health has new grad programs, I do not know when they hire though.

I personally started in LTC and worked my way into acute care..

Asystole RN, what LTC facility did you start at? Do you know of any that hire new grads? Thanks!

Idk if anybody is interested in Psych, but I found this Aurora Behavioral Health System. They have jobs in the glendale/tempe areas. It says New grads are encouraged to apply! so idk maybe worth a shot? I'm on the fence about applying there. what do you guys think?! here's the link

Feels like you just need to take whatever you can get, but at the same time psych nursing isn't my thing  haha, but thanks for sharing the opportunity though! It's definitely worth a shot if you wanna do psych nursing :)
