hi everyone! i just wanted to start a thread for all of the gcu (grand canyon university) spring 2012 hopefuls.

i'm hoping to get into the scottsdale healthcare night/weekend program! it's a drive for me (i live about an hour away), but i work full-time in the mornings, so i need a program that's offered at night. i wish the program was shorter than 20 months, but at least its not 2 full years! i already have a bachelors degree in general studies. i took the teas last week and passed the math and reading sections. i'm currently taking hcr 210, hcr 240, and bio 205 online at rio salado. i am taking com 270 in the fall at mesa community college. i'll be sending off for my fingerprint clearance card soon.

well, i hope to talk to some of the hopefuls out there. have a great day! ?

i'm a spring '12 fast track at st. joe's hopeful :D yay me!

i am currently enrolled in com 207 at pvcc and will be taking patho, nutrition, and clinical ethics at gcu this semester so that i can apply for spring.

i'm scheduled to take my teas next week, ugh! just took the hesi and passed with flying colors so i am hoping the teas won't be too different. i have my fingerprint clearance card just need to do the background check.

hope to meet some more of you guys real soon.

good luck!:nurse:

i am in the same exact boat. i am taking hcr 240 at rio i am also taking ethics and nurs. 207. i will be going to the a.t. steels campus for my bsn.

let me ask you. which teacher do you have for patho? how are you doing in that class? seems like a ridiculous amount of information to learn in 8 weeks. i think i might be getting my first c. i ment to be at gcu this semester for the on ground course but it fell through so i had to do it on line.

let me know how it going for you because i can't get my professor (sue) to tell me much of anything about this course.

hi windsblow

congrats on getting this far and on your upcoming bsn!:yeah:

i am taking pathos with -----. i am really nervous. it's been a couple of semesters since i took a&p. i took both online so i really didn't learn anything but how to flip from the index to the corresponding page quickly to get an answer for my online tests:eek: seriously!

so far, there is a lot of a&p recall and a lot of reading. classes for me are mwf for an hour although there is a class 2x/week for 2 hours i believe. i wish i would've enrolled in that one.

i record my lectures because they go very fast and i replay all the time.

our first exam is on friday and it will be over 4 weeks of information. cell adaptation, acid base balance, pain, blood/anemia. loads of info.

i'm pretty scared. i never know if i am studying the right stuff or what?!?!?

i know a few girls who took it online and passed. they said it was easy. no tests, just essays. but that they can't recall a thing. that's probably just fine though  i can't get away with that unfortunately. ugh! did i mention i'm soo nervous?

also, i have a friend who is taking it online right now through...one of the maricopa's, and said she needs to have a webcam on her while she takes the online tests??? shoot me! i can't handle that type of pressure.

Johnnyarei, did you get accepted into the GCU/SHC cohort for Spring 12? I ask because I was not aware we had a spring cohort coming in. At any rate, Good luck to you! It's a very challenging program and if you do work full time, do consider cutting back. I currently work 30+ hours but am taking the whole week off next week to study for the finals. Also, we only have clinical rotation on Saturdays for 8 weeks. Starting January we will not be going on Saturdays. Just so you won't be shocked like we were a few weeks ago when we found out. Even though this program is being promoted as if it is for people who work full time, it really is not. You still have to be 100% flexible and be able to take a day off here and there for simulation lab, another day for clinical and such. Good luck! It is a great program if have a flexible schedule to work with. Also, be prepared to be told to spend '20 hours' of study time for every hour of class time you have/week.

I got my acceptance letter a couple of days back so that cool. I am in the AT steeles fast track.

Anyone else out there on the fastrack for spring?

What were peoples TEAS and GPA's if I could be so nosey?

Yea I'm in ASU's program, but my gf is getting ready to apply to GCU's program in the next semester or 2, how do they determine who gets in? Is it just based off GPA mostly? What were the average GPAs, and lowest GPA that made it in.

I really appreciate any information anyone can give me

Thomas
