GCC/NAU Concurrent Program

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi, everyone

I was accepted into the Concurrent Program at GCC in the fall but starts this summer with the NAU class. I was wanting to know if there was anyone else on here who got accepted? :) I hope everyone who wanted in got in.:yeah:

I got into the ASU cep and I was just wondering if your maricopa status page still says you haven't been placed. I faxed in the contract days ago and I just want to make sure that I'm not the only one with that status on the maricopa nursing page. I've called and emailed the nursing advisor at MCC to verify and haven't got a response yet.

I am not 100% sure about ASU, but Maricopa didn't put me in as accepted until after they did the regular placements which was in September. I had already started my NAU class, so I expect you won't see a change in your status until after that time. As long as you receive a letter from John and then from ASU welcoming you to the program, I wouldn't worry much. We did alot of worrying when things werent' happening as fast as we would have liked, but didn't need to fear. Just keep up on their requests for paperwork and such and you will be fine.

FYI: Don't do your tb tests until the month or two before you start your maricopa classes if you don't already need them. Same with your CPR. The tb has to last through your first two blocks of school and your CPR will last through your entire schooling if you wait.

I got accepted into 2013 fall CEP about a week ago! Faxed in my acceptance, applied to NAU, sent my transcripts, etc. Now I'm just waiting to hear back from NAU about my admittance. My maricopa status hasn't changed yet either. I'm not too worried about it. But I am getting kind of antsy. I just want to get this thing started. I've been on the waiting list for a year and a half which is less time than a lot of other people. Is anyone else doing the fast track option? I wasn't too sure about it at first but I'd rather get a BSN at the end of the program than spend a extra semester taking NAU classes.

Also, to anyone who is interested, I started a Facebook closed group. I named it Maricopa Nursing CEP. I didn't know what to call it! So if anyone has a better name, seriously, I don't care what it's called as long as people can find it easily. I've never created a fb group so if someone has a problem finding it or becoming a member just let me know and I'll try to fix it. Okay? Okay.

Is it open to all CEP students or just NAU?

Open to anyone in the cep. I happen to be in GCC/NAU program.

I am interested in applying to the GCC/NAU program, and have already completed some coursework towards my BSN so I would be transferring in. Any advice on who to talk to to get more information on how to apply?

Also, is it true there is no wait list, like there is for the rest of the MCC programs?

Thanks, also for the people who got accepted, can you post your GPA and HESI Math and English scores? I know a lot of people would greatly appreciate it

I got for the the Fall 2013 NAU/CEP. My GPA 3.63. HESI was 96 & 98, and I only took it once.

From my understanding, NAU is not as strict as ASU when it comes to how many times you take a class to get your A or B, or how many times you take your HESI test. But one thing Ive learned, is expect changes. Nothing is in stone. Do it once, and do it well. :)

My advice, as getting in becomes more competitive each semester, strive for A's in all your classes. Even though they say you can apply with a 3.0, the vibe I got was that they seemed to be looking for people with a 3.5 or better. Try and get high 80's & 90's on the HESI, and do your best to only take it once. Like I said this is just my take on things based on my experience. Hope I was of some help

Thanks for the info! After my classes this semester I will have a 3.81 GPA. My HESI scores are 92% and 83%, I also have a previous degree. I am hoping that my GPA will help offset my low HESI score (83%). I am applying in May for Spring 2014 NAU/MCC

Do you know which classes they calculate your GPA from? Is it just the pre-reqs for entry into block 2? or the additional pre-reqs for block 3? or the co-reqs required for graduation? if you have all of the above do they just calculate all of the classes you've taken?
