In AZ, Fortis has a new LPN program. 1st co-hort started in Jan or Feb, I am in 2nd group that starts 6/28. There were 3 spots left last week, if its full the next one starts in November. Its 26K for everything - books, scrubs, tuition etc. And, FYI, its 1 -13 week section for all your pre-reqs, a&p, bio, math etc and 3- 18 week sections of nursing with clinicals. It's offered M-F 8-12:50. Hope that info helps. I know it's expensive and some people have very strong opinions about the expense of private colleges but I'm 40, have no pre-reqs done yet AND there are 2510 people on the community college RN program wait list!! Sooooo I'm forking out the big bucks to get to do what I want IN THIS LIFETIME!!
Good luck either way!

Just curious, why didn't you go the "skill center" route?
Next start date was already filled up and they have a lottery system ... so no guarantees!! I'm sorry but I'm new to this nursing thing but a lottery system seems like BS to me... Central AZ has a "point" system that I can relate to much better! Get an A, get more points that the student with the B ...just my opinion...

hey lpn2be i just enrolled for the nov start date and need a lil heads up on how the school is from your prospective....kinda nervous but excited at the same time is this a good school or should i just prepare for the worst...... thx
SWSC has NO lottery system. Not sure if you are referring to the MSC program. At SWSC once you turn in a qualified application, you can get a guaranteed spot. Now, whether it's the next class or the one after is the question. I just personally would never pay that kind of tuition for a practical nurse program. Especially right now when no nurse can be guaranteed a job after graduation. Not to mention if Fortis is regionally accredited or not? If not it may be hard getting into an ADN or BSN program and transferring the pre'reqs....

I went to the southwest skills center, and they told me the wait would be about 10 months. I am going to apply for Gateway Fast Track during the next application period.
So, are you applying to SWSC?
No, I'm applying to Gateway because I'm a teacher and they offer a night and weekend program.
So relatively how long is the waiting list for gateway
Makes sense.....good luck!
Read through some threads on this forum, one talks at great length about just that.
