CHM130 at Rio Salado

U.S.A. Arizona

I am thinking of taking CHM130 at Rio so I can apply earlier. This is my only pre-req left. I am taking BIO202 and ENG101 now and will finish these in May. Did any of you take CHM130 at Rio and how was it? Did you have to go to the testing center for every exam, every week? How was the lab? I took BIO 156 at Rio during short summer session along with pre-algebra class at GCC and working full time and it was a lot of work. Either I will take CHM130 at Rio starting next week or I will take it at GCC during summer.

Thanks.

I haven't taken a chem class at rio but taken many others including bio 202. typically all your testing is done online with the exception of the midterm and final exams. Good luck, as any online science class is alot of work.

I finish CHM130 at Rio next week. All the quizzes are done at home. Most of them you will have to print out and actually write on, then mail them back to the instructor through Rio. Some quizzes are done completely online. The midterm and final are taken at a Rio Testing Center. It's worth 200 points (the weekly tests are worth 30 points each, the labs 30 points each) and consists of multiple choice questions only.

As for the labs, you do all experiments at home with the provided lab kit and some random stuff you need to get at the grocery store yourself. You have to type a complete lab report for every lab, print that out and mail it to your instructor.

I had a great instructor! He wrote lots of notes on the quizzes and labs he sent me back. I combined this class with BIO201 (just finished today with a B), last part of ENG101 (got an A) and now with PSY101. I'm probably getting a B in the lecture part and an A in the lab.

It's not too timeconsuming, however I did spend at least 3-4 hours on the lab every week. I usually spent one whole day on both the lecture and the lab every week.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thank you both :o) I am still not sure what to do.

I meant to put smily , not this purple thing.

Did you go with Rio? If so how is it going? I just signed up for the March 17th start date. I am very nervous though. I have never taken Chm and to do it online I know will be a challenge but I am ready ;).

I took all my pre-reqs online at Rio. Chemistry was especially hard for me. That and Micro made me crazy. I was buried in a book. But I'm kind of a slow learner and I read things like 3 times.

This is what I'll tell you about it. If I can do it, you can definately do it. Just get it done. Put the time in.

It is true that you spend about three hours on the lab at home. Then you write all the lab reports and that good stuff.

I was extremely thankful that Rio had all the pre-reqs online as my job did not allow me to attend class on a regular schedule.

Just do it. :)

Thanks! Most of the time I feel like a slow learner when it comes to math and science. I was able to log into my class today so I can look over assignments and just mentally prepare myself and it scared the crap out of me. I have never had chemistry and I don't know what to expect. But taking it one assignment at a time should help. Trying to stay positive. Down to my last two pre-req's so I have to make it happen.

Attempting to kick chemistry's butt!!! :specs:

I'm doing all mu pre-req's at Rio. It's just easier physically to not have to go to the class. But alot of work I think. I am doing Bio202 and a MAT92 right now. As I am horrible at math. Midterm this weekend. I am feeling burned out though because I take 1 class on Saturday that I have to go to the site for. The CNA part for CAC's nursing program
