ASU Summer 2010 Program Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello, everyone!

I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time. :uhoh3:

I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. :( Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year :banghead:.

Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat

What scores are you all applying with?

PineappleCrush-

What was your friends score that is back in the pool?

swimchick89- She was one of the ones I mentioned earlier that has a 5.54 :)

ka2010- No worries about your GPA! I love it when I tell people that it's so competitive that sometimes a 4.0 isn't even good enough. But a 3.73 is a really good GPA, be proud of it! :) You did so well on the NET that it kind of balances it out. Are you re-taking any of the classes that you didn't get A's in?

:heartbeat

Yeah, I'm in an upper division biology class right now and am in chemistry 130 at rio salado (I only took gen chem when I was pre-med and got B's for both lectures).

So after reviewing my application again I noticed that my GPA is calculated wrong (I was given a B for chem lab when I have an A) so thankfully I noticed that now when tomorrow is the last day for changes, right? So if it all works out that brings my score up to a 5.58.

One week, everybody!!!!! :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

ka2010: Wow! Nice catch, just in time! I read this earlier and triple-checked my application for the umpteenth time haha. Hopefully you were able to get everything sorted out and were able to change the grade in time. That's great that you're working towards upping your GPA by taking the other classes. I would hate to take CHM online, though, it's definitely not my strong suit. Now A&P and Patho were awesome. I was considering re-taking Patho this semester just for the heck of it so that it would stay fresh in my mind. I probably should have done that because I'm probably already getting rusty, no matter how many times I go over my notes and run through my note cards... eek!

i was just looking at the date too; can't believe we'll all know in about a week or so! i think all of us have been anxious since january-february. i'm glad that this time around things were a bit faster. i feel extra nervous because this is my third time applying. :( the first time i applied my gpa was only 3.73. after taking replacement courses, i was able to bring my gpa up to a 3.929 (chemistry is my weakness!!) my advancement score is 5.599.

**summer 2010 applicants: last cycle my mailman's daughter was applying as well (she got in to mayo) so he delivered my letter first thing in the morning, as opposed to about 1pm. i'll see if i can get him to do the same this time around. if he can, i'll post asap so that everyone will know the scores. i'm not promising anything, but i'll try my best.

We only had to send back info last friday, if we only needed to make corrections right?

Yes, cna to crna2b, that is correct. If all of your info was correct, no further action was needed. :)

Thats what I thought, my wife got me all worried saying that I needed to send it back.

Hey all, I'm a Jr 1 right now at ASU, and not to scare anyone but just to give an idea my class was only 60 people too and our cut off score was 5.68 (our class GPA average was a 3.9) Anyway, I know how much the waiting sucks and how nerve wracking it is but try to keep your mind on something else, and GOOD LUCK!!! :)

I guess i spoke too soon, I just went back and read the entire thread, if there really are only 85 applicants than you guys have a way better chance! The cut off score for my round was so high because there were 270 applicants. So the cut off score should be lower with less people applying right?

Hey, Tarabara!

I actually think most of us on this thread applied for the Spring 2010 admission but didn't get in. I know I for one was shocked that the score jumped so high: For Fall 2009 the advancement score was a 5.59, so to jump to the 5.68 was a huge shock. It was probably partially because of the Mayo Clinic program, but idk. So I'm hoping that was a fluke. I know my GPA is a 4.0, it's just that stupid NET test that screws everything up.

I thought they accepted 80 for Spring 2010, though? Or at least that's what they said they were going to accept when I applied for it.... Regardless, we definitely have a different story since there are only 85 applicants for this round, versus the usual 250+. I think we're all hoping that the scores will be lower since there are so few applicants :)

How do you like the program so far, Tarabara? What kinds of things are you guys doing?
