ASU Fall 2010 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Ok gang, now it's our turn to start sharing information, tips and score ranges for those applying to the ASU (Arizona State) upper division nursing program for the Fall 2010 semester.

With the new TEAS testing requirement, I'm not sure we can apply to our situation the historical score ranges from the past (when they had to take the NET) so let's all share information and support for those of us applying for advancement.

I took the TEAS today got an 85.3% composite score. Both the program and national percentile scores were 98%. I'm applying with a 4.0 GPA. If this was a NET score submission for the Spring 2010 semester, I'd be right on the bubble. I'm wondering how others are scoring on the TEAS and if anyone's heard of any nuances in the application of those scores to our overall advancement scores. I'm under the impression that the Program Percentile score is pretty important as it is the ranking within our program exclusively - does anyone know if that is correct or not?

I recall that there will be only 60 advanced into the upper division program this Fall so I know the competition is going to be stiff.

If anyone has any information regarding scoring, numbers applying, numbers to be advanced, etc, please share! It's a long way off until they let us know where we stand - It will be nice to have a forum where we can bounce off one another.

"I have a 4.0 which leaves me with a 5.6. Cutoffs in the past have been around the 5.6-5.7 mark with a much easier test (NET). I would imagine with the nature of the TEAS V being as tough as it is the cutoff would be much lower, but I could be wrong."

Jbackphx, I feel the same way! I can't imagine students scoring better on the TEAS than the NET. I'm anxious to find out the results... Does anyone know how many students applied for Fall 2010?

What was your TEAS score Crickets? And, what was your select GPA (if you don't mind me asking)? Many other forums state that averages for the TEAS V for their school were around the 65-75 range. I can't imagine us being that far above the rest.

Jbackphx,

I scored 79.3 on the TEAS with a 4.0 GPA (5.586). To be honest, I'm not sure if that's good or not... Good luck to us!!! Keep in touch!

Well, IMO, that's a really good score you should be proud of! You definately have a good shot at acceptance. Good luck to you and everyone else on this forum!!

i scored an 84.7 on the teas and have a 3.74 as my select gpa giving me a score of 5.434. i'm concerned my gpa has caused me to be on the border. unfortunately, i have 3 b's in science courses from my original bachelors degree. hopefully this will still be competitive since the average teas score was 64.

cricket, do you know what percentile your score was based on asu applicants? i'm trying to gauge how many people have above and below an 80 on the teas.

fsunole86,

Congrats on your TEAS score; that's an excellent score! I took the test on April 30, 2010. As of that date, I placed 93% nationally, and 90% in the program. However, I don't think "90% in the program" is based on ASU alone. To my understanding, it's for all/any BSN program. I could be completely wrong though.

Good luck to you too!

no you're correct, the program percentile is based on bsn program types. i just wonder what the breakdown is, i can't wait until july lol

Wow! I haven't checked this forum for a week or so - suddenly there's a lot of interest here! Over 500 views of this thread since last time I was here!

I retook the TEAS V and scored an 88 to combine with a 4.0 in my critical courses submitted. Feeling cautiously optimistic........

Looking for insights anyone may have. Any hints from the advisors on where we might stand? I've got my ear to the ground but everyone seems a bit reluctant to share grades/scores. Look at it this way, the tests are over, our grades are what they are, and we've all submitted our packets for advancement - no point in holding out now. It's time to share and support each other until we hear our fates in July!

:D

hi, this is my second time applying for the upper division program at ASU. Last time I missed the cutoff by .04 of a point. I was on the alternate list but never heard anything else. Initially i was somewhat confident that i would get in. I did well on the net with an 89% on reading and 90% on math, however, my gpa was 3.86. This time around I do not want to get my hopes up like last time. I am thinking my score is not going to be enough to get me into the program. My gpa is the same, 3.86, and my teas score is 86.7%. That gives me a composite entrance score of 5.594. I guess we will have to wait until July to find out. Good luck to everyone

Hi Areli88,

What semester did you originally apply for (summer or spring)? That's really too bad you missed it by such a small amount! Your TEAS score is awesome! I think in general, the scores will be lower all around than the NET test scores, and yours is really high. You have a really good chance on getting in this time around and I hope you do! Good luck! We'll just have to hope that 60 of the applicants don't have a 4.0 with a 80+ on the TEAS!!

Hi,

I feel really down looking at all the changes since I last visited this site. I have a 4.0 GPA. But I did not study at all for the TEAS and took it once. My score was 75.3 which gives me the total of 5.5. When I talked to the adviser, he was not sure whether I should apply with such low TEAS. SO, I decided to not APPLY! Now I wouldn't know whether I had a chance or not. I am going to retake the TEAS again for the spring semester. I hope I do better this time as I will have the whole summer to study. Wish all you guys Good Luck. Keep me in your prayer for next time.

Hey,

I found out today that ASU added 20 more spots for FALL! I hope this info is accurate!
