Anybody NOT accepted to NAU/ASU/CEP through MCCD?

Does anyone know of any applicants that were turned down for the CEP program through Maricopa? Everyone I know who has applied had gotten in with GPA's from 3.0-3.8. My GPA is a little behind a 3.5 and I am worried that competition is getting heavier, I see all these posts about 4.0's and 3.9's!. I have yet to hear of anyone rejected though. Just wondering if anyone has heard of any rejections or if the program is still too new...

Yes, the email came from ------------- with ASU for the Aug 14th meeting. Were you accepted during the first round or did you wait to begin your ASU application? After I received confirmation that PC process my letter of intent, I have not heard from them since. Guess they don't really need us until Spring.

Oh okay. I waited a little bit to start my ASU application. Also, the classes you signed up for, are they all online based? I heard we couldn't take any on campus classes. Kinda sucks.

Yeah, all the ASU classes are online. I've only taken one online class before. Most are 8 weeks, so that worries me - but I guess we'll get used to it. They did say that if we needed help or anything we could come to the campus.

Yeah I'm not a fan either. It's goin to be a lot

Of writing. But we will see

Not sure if you know this or not.....I know I didn't until I registered for classes. There is a $750 Nursing program fee charged to us every semester. There is a $50 online class fee, for each online class you take. There is also a $50 technology fee every semester. I am paying $950 in fees this semester. Funny how in all the meetings, they never once mentioned the measly $750 Nursing fee for ASU - $3750 for the 5 semesters. I was in sticker shock!! $5600 for tuition this semester. YIKES

Hi everyone!

I am student at GCC and I have just finished everything I need to do to get into the Maricopa Nursing Pool. (Pre-reqs, clearance card, HESI etc). I have to wait to do the CEP application until January. My GPA is a 3.0 and my HESI scores are as follows English Language Composite: 92% Math 82% and Reading 94%. I already have an Associates degree so I was told that would give me another push. Idk if I should retake the HESI so I can get a higher score in order to leverage my low GPA. I originally started at GCU where I took 90% of my pre-reqs and I really struggled there which is why my GPA is so low. Do you have an idea if I would get in or not? Also has anyone completed the NAU/CEP program and if so what your thoughts on it?

I just started Block 4 of the MCC/NAU program and I graduate in December. It's a great program and I highly recommend it to everyone I talk to that's interested in it. Many of our teachers, nurses, nurse managers, and more have told us that they prefer people who have graduated from the CEP program because they are much more prepared than just ADN students.

When I applied, the CEP program was "competitive entry" but everyone who met the minimum qualifications got in because there was enough spots for everyone. Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. As of last semester, they received more applications than they had spots for and had to deny some people who still met the minimum qualifications. This info is on the Maricopa Nursing website. It doesn't list the cutoff that they made as far as GPA/HESI scores though. Hope this helps you make your decision. Good luck!!

lillymota Were you going to apply for NAU/CEP? I can't say 100% but i think your scores are fine. You could always ask the advisors for their advice as well, they would have a good idea on what the threshold is for scores. Me and my friend just got accepted into the NAU/CEP and start NAU in a few days. We start Block 1 in Spring 17'. We were told by the advisors that it was competitive, 160 people applied and 96 got in, 32 in each cohort. I don't know how many applied to each cohort though, it could have been uneven and some people may have denied being moved to a different cohort. My Hesi scores were 88% Composite and 98% Math, I had 4.0 GPA with an AA degree. My friend had the exact same Hesi but with a 3.4 GPA. Our advisor said they weigh heavier on the Hesi score and prior degree, the last thing they looked at was GPA so not sure how much that mattered. Hope this helps!
