Any one from rural areas in AZ?

Did you move here or born here?

Used to be. Actually moved to Mammoth, AZ from Los Angeles. Can you imagine the culture shock???!!!!

i have grown up and lived in rural az..payson..it is an ok place to live but what else would you like to know

I lived and worked in Douglas , pretty rurual compared to Tucson where I live and work now! Got my RN at Cochise College, which is primarily in Douglas, with a campus in Sierra Vista. Trained in the Douglas Hospital, Bisbee, and Sierra Vista. I don't believe the Douglas Hospital is functioning anymore though. I LOVED the setting... much more relaxed and easy going, neighbors spread out alot! SMALLER hosptials too. You have choices of Douglas, Bisbee, Sierra Vista, and more small towns to live in. There is also a SMALL hospital in Wilcox as well.

Kingman, AZ

I am a native in the Prescott area and it is a wonderful place to live, unfortunately the Californians are pudhing us out right now. I know of to many natives who are being forced to leave because the property has gone up in price so much. It is really sad---but they are coming here because it is so beautiful, so if you can afford it, you'll love it. Oh yeah, only one hopital here, doesn't pay real well and not that many people like it!!

Hey, I lived close to there! I was born and raised in Kearney (copper mining area)! I've also lived in Florence.

I live in Douglas, and YES, the hospital continues to survive, LOL ! I work in the acute care, and when really busy, I attend the ER as well. The hospital is in the throes of survival, having closed many, many of it's departments. We live right on the border of Mexico, and from what I've been told by the older staff, the hospital simply could not cover it's expenses due to so much under compensated care to non-insured (read, illegal immigrants). So, we are now on a virtual skeleton staff compared to years ago :crying2: ...

Nonethess, we continue to provide the care we can.

Was in rural AZ. Lived in Flag (well, not totally rural). Got my RN from Coconino Community and spent time all over the Northland. But I couldn't do it anymore and ran back to Oregon. It's funny though, although I felt that I would never miss it (due to personal tragedy), I find myself a little homesick, go figure.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi All

I'm in the greater Sierra Vista, Bisbee area. Live halfway between the two. Also a Cochise grad...moved around and worked in a bunch of places, but always seem to come back here!

i lived in northern AZ and worked on the reservation for 9 months. it is the biggest dump on earth, if you are at all considering moving here, DON'T. the only tolerable place in the whole state is prescott, payson, or scottsdale. i am not high maintanence at all, but people assumed i was rediculously wealthy because i had gas and electric.
