ADN nurses in AZ greater Phoenix area

U.S.A. Arizona

Hello nurses!

I am moving to AZ in early 2014 and I am very much wanting to get in to a hospital setting. I currently live in Utah. I have had my RN license and have been working at a physical rehabilitation facility for just over 1 year. I graduated with an associates degree.

I've been doing some research and I am aware that Banner hospitals are no longer hiring ADN nurses, with some rare exceptions it seems, ie. good connections or an impressive background.

I'm REALLY tired of the setting I am currently working in. I took the job with the understanding that the hospitals in my area want new grads to have at least one year of experience elsewhere before hiring.

I'm wondering what all you know about other hospitals in the greater phoenix area hiring ADN nurses. Do I have a chance? I've been looking at online BSN programs but I am totally disgusted by the cost. And honestly, I am still totally burned out from nursing school. It's not something I WANT to do....

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It is really tough to get a hospital job in the valley with an associates and no prior acute care experience. You can easily get into LTACHs, nursing homes, rehab centers and the like but you will find mixed results.

Good luck.

P.S. I know you are burned out on school, I knew the feeling well, but getting your BSN is nothing like nursing school. I found my BSN to actually be interesting and fun.
