MCCD ADN program and CO-Req's...

For anyone that is in one of the MCCD Nursing programs...

There are 4 co-reqs of the ADN program. My understanding was that you either took these classes BEFORE or DURING nursing school. Looking over the Block 1 schedule at GCC, patho is in there as a class. Does this mean that if I have the co-reqs I just don't go to that class, don't do it, is it separate, or what? I am confused now because I don't see English in there anywhere, nor Nutrition.

For those of you that have taken care of your co-reqs before nursing school, does it make it easier for you?

I was going to register for Patho at RIO while I wait to get into the program, so I need to know. Thanks guys!!

You can take your co-reqs before you get into the program. I am taking Patho right now at MCC. The block 1 schedule at GCC only lists the nursing classes, but you still need patho, english and nutrition to complete the nursing program. I've been told getting the co-reqs out of the way makes nursing school a little easier.

Yeah, that is what I have been told too. I saw that English and all that was not on there, but I saw patho on there as a two credit class and then patho again the next semester as a two credit class. Do you have to take additional patho in the program or is that the patho you WOULD be taking if you did not already have it? I just did not get why it was not broken out like Eng, Nut, Hum, and Psych... I guess I will worry about that later. I plan to take Patho in Spring. Thanks Glendale Student!!

Kabin,

I don't get it. What is "GC" and which patho were you trying to get into? I want to do it online. Right now it is all I can do to try and pass BIO 202, so..........

Hi Janice,

I was getting lazy with the acronym, but GC is Glendale College. In an earlier post someone mentioned a pathophysiology (HCR 240) teacher at Glendale and it was timely as today I did my early registeration for HCR240 for the Spring '05. By the way, there are two Spring '05 online patho sections offered at Glendale College, but I would highly recommend Rio.

Good luck with Bio 202!

Hey Kabin, thanks for the reply!!

Well, my Rio BIO 202 class does not technically end till Jan. 22nd, so it looks like I am screwed for the spring, atleast going to a "traditional" college. I HAD seen patho at RIO, but for some reason it isn't anywhere to be found now. So......dunno what I am going to do. Sheesh. Probably going to have to take it first semester of nursing school anyway now. Or in the summer if I don't get into school by then. I hope RIO offers it again..... Totally bummed.

Congrats on getting in to your class! Good Luck to you!

Hey, how is BIO202 through Rio? Easier or harder than 201? I start 202 next week. Right now I'm knee deep in the endocrine system and hoping it gets a little easier/less dry.

I discovered that as well. Wonder how Rio's nursing program gets by without it?

Endocrine is the first chapter, and the class starts next week. I was just trying to get a jump start on it. Oh no, about less labs, more essays! I always got 93-96% on my labs, but only averaged 80% on my essays.
