Hi! I'm wondering what is ambulatory RN. I saw this job posting that says ambulatory RN-neuro. What will a nurse do in this kind of field? What would a typical day be like? Are floor nurses paid the same as ambulatory RNs do? Thanks for your responses.

same day, they walk in and walk out in under 23hrs. Pay depends on your boss ;)

ATU-Outpatient services

An ATU can be many things from an infusion center to an outpatient radiology unit to an outpatient endoscopy unit.

ATU is an outpatient slush unit.

Hi Niki,

I've been an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) RN for the past 8 years. A typical day in the ASC would be either prepping patients for surgery or working in recovery, it just depends on the day. Our patients are typically healthy enough to walk in and most times walk out (depending on the type of surgery they had) in the same day. We open our department at 0600, first case starts at 0730 and are closed by 1800-ish, depending on how the last patients are recovering. We are closed weekends and holidays which is a bonus!

Specializes in Ambulatory Care; L&D.

That job title, Ambulatory RN-Neuro, could mean working in the office of a private practice neurologist. This could entire rooming patients before their office visit (i.e. vital signs, meds etc), case management (lots of phone time), education, whatever else your doctor needs you to do. Pay, like said earlier, depends on your boss. Usually work Mon-Fri 8-5. No holidays or weekends.

Thank you for all your responses. It gave me a better idea on what to expect on a job like that.
