I'm and RN currently working in a hospital and I am interested in a job at a medical clinic. So my question is if I want to work in the clinic, is there a phlebotomy course I can attend for RN's. The one's I've seen seem to be extensive and for MAs, etc. I'm interested in the course for the drawing experience, but also protocols for handling the specimans, labs, etc. In the hospital, the lab techs draw blood except for central lines, so I don't have that experience. We don't have an IV team, so I get about 50% of my sticks. If I don't get it on the 2nd try, I get someone else to do it - it's a medical floor - hard sticks.
