wow ..I can hardly believe this happened today

I was impersonated today by a person calling in a RX for Lortab. They caught her on tape and the police were being notified

To complicate things, a few years ago this person worked as the receptionist in the office with me.

I can not believe she would have total lack of respect for me. it turns out she did this few weeks ago and was not caught.

So I imagine she has done this at other pharmacies as well

Has his happened to any of you guys?

I am trying to be a little compassionate with the recognition of her drug problem and that yes she needs some help

but I am stilll very annoyed and I feel used.

Someone impersonated a friend of mine (a receptionist in a clinic) just last week trying to get a prescription for pain pills. Luckily the pharmacy had caller id and when she came to pick up the meds, the police were there waiting on her. I don't know what happened after that.

caller ID is a wise tool..I wonder how many offices have caller ID?

Specializes in ER!.

In one office I worked in, I overheard one MA calling in Phenergan w/ codeine for another MA. The MD who supposedly prescribed it wasn't even there that day. It is truly amazing what anyone anywhere can get away with if the know the language and terminolgy. The game these two women had going was to wait till just after office hours and call the rx in and leave it on the pharmacy's voicemail, so if the pharmacy did try to call back, they wouldn't be able to get through to the provider. The only requirement the pharmacies had on new phoned-in prescriptions was to be sure and include the DOB of the pt. I never overheard anything resembling addiction problems, but these two women just always seemed to be on a "Look at me, see what I can do" power trip. They'd both been there for years, and the clinical supervisor believed everything they told her- they got away with the most outrageous things. Scary!

And Darla, this is totally off the subject, but I'm always happy to see Tennessee nurses; where in TN are you?

I live in Clarksville..we are about an hour Northwest of Nashville..home of Fort Campbell KY

I grew up in PA ( NW corner) and then after moving to Colorado for fun and a sunny change of pace I met and married an army man. So I have lived all over the globe, but we settled her in 1996. I Love TN

what about you?
