Decreased surgical cases @ outpatient surgery center

I just started working at a Surgery center and noticed a Notice in on of the nurses offices that addressed this, no they were not going to fire anyone at our facility, I mean they were hiring actually, me as a tech and looking for another OR nurse, but they had some stipulations on how, Salary employees get called in first and may be the only ones working on slow days, and that Orientation should not occur n slow days (even though I was oriented on some slow days) so I'm sure it was just a suggestion.

if they are making other measures to save money, cutting staff doesn't seem to be at the top of the list.

All the surgery centers are, unfortunately, feeling the economic crunch. I run a surgery center and we are looking at ways to cut costs, to include closing one day a week. Staff won't lose their jobs, but it does mean that they'd lose 8 hours a week and that can be painful. Working together for viable solutions is in your best interest. Best of luck to you!

now that I have been there a while I have heard that they used to have double the staff they have now, so yes it has like everything else been feeling the crunch
