Certifications for Staff

I work in an ASC and currently only our CRNAs and RNs need their certifications for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Our physicians are not required to obtain any certifications. This doesn't make sense to me. Should'nt they at least need BLS?

Thanks for your help!

This sounds very dangerous! In a code situation who orders the meds...CRNA's? I think your facility needs to revisit this issue, at the very least your anesthesiologist needs to have all of these.

I know. Crazy, isn't it? We only have surgeons and CRNAs (no anesthesiologist). It's a very small, privately-owned practice, and our accredidation requires either an anesthesiologist or CRNA. The surgeons are requiring the RNs and CRNAs to be certified--and not them. I've never been in a code where the doc doesn't run it. I'm not comfortable with this at all!

What state are you in? CRNA's in California need to work with an anesthesiologist!
