Timothy, what about it is confusing to you if you don't mind me asking. I use the Last 24 hours search as how I use the forum as well, always have and love this function. It might "look different" but it's doing the job and I am not understanding what you're saying.
Well, I find the links to nursing news et al along to right to be very distracting. Maybe that's a piece of it.

can it be at the top of every page, like it was in the old version? I like to read through a thread before deciding whether or not to subscribe to it. It would be nice to scroll to the top of page 5 to subscribe, instead of having to go back to page 1.

As you may notice, Brian (until I change my avatar again), I HAD to show somewhere that I am a Guide. I did receive your response to me that you will take my suggestions into consideration, so, allow me to thank you for that.

I also want to express (again), how important I think this is to many. I strongly believe that the members are PROUD to be here! And, many (myself included), probably wanted to upgrade to be able to see their name in banners, so to speak. I remember when I upgraded from free to Premium and I was so thrilled to see my name in Green, to be able to place an avatar that represented me. sirI gave me my first avatar, and I would not change it for a long, long time, because I felt so honored that someone gave me an avatar! This is what made me upgrade again to Platinum, and then, when I was given the status of a Guide, I was boiled over in happiness!

It is nice to be able to see who is who by label. You automatically knew who was a staff member, moderator, etc...and while I can certainly say that it is of most importance to me, I strongly believe that this is important to many. All of these things made things more personalized in our community. It seems to be so insignificant to me to have a small ribbon that someone has to take the time to click on it to see what it means, and most will not waste their time doing so if they are not familiar with the previous format. It gives a sense of pride, accomplishment and allows personalization. I spent a great deal of time trying to find avatars to match the colors of my bar; so to speak, and the avatar is an expression of ourselves. Of course, you see that I need this back...all of it. From what I see, each of the people who upgraded do the best that they can to represent this community because it belongs to US.

As I said previously, it wouldn't make me change how I participate, but I do think that some of the personalization and identification is sadly missing. Bottom line is that I applaud how much you are trying to bring us into the 22nd century!

Joe's our bb developer guru, working on redesigning member status ---see revised header next to name. Few more redesign tweeks to come to make it more like prior board style...with improved functionality.

Avatars are continuing to come and go ... mine is currently gone.

Edited to add: it seems like linking a custom avatar to an external site may be more reliable than trying to upload it. I just did that, and it's working again. We'll see if that "sticks."

Edited to add (again): 30 minutes later my avatar was gone again. Just fixed it again.

First off ... THANKS to everyone involved in what is clearly a HUGE undertaking. Especially at this time of the year!

The fact people are speaking out and being listened to is testament to the INTEGRITY of Brian and the staff, and their WILLINGNESS to heed the suggestions and take affirmative action.
I applaud you all for this.

I'll be honest .... I miss the old format! I really do! I liked it as it was.

However ... at the grand old age of 58, the thing I've come to know is ... things change!
    Life itself is about change.
It's inevitable that something such as allnurses would/will/did change too.
Heck nursing itself has changed since I began all those years ago!

I'm slowly navigating my way around and finding my way ... ever so slowly! But I'm sure given time and changes made, we'll all come to feel less disoriented and us the members and the site itself will continue to grow, together.

If you happen to *see* me somewhere on the site looking lost and/or confused ... please put a stamp on me and send me via Australia post back home!

MERRY CHRISTMAS Brian and family and all the staff and families!
Thanks for your hard work and graciousness!

    Cheers from Down Under!

One thing I just noticed is that everyone can read visitor comments on a person's page. Maybe this needs to be adjusted, because some of those conversations may be personal. I just happened to decide a few minutes ago to drop a note to a friend and was able to see all of the notes left for this person. Not sure if someone would want ANYBODY to have that sort of access...what if a personal comment was made that this was not meant for me to see? I get offended, not 'speak' to this person any longer... I believe outside of basic information on the profile, who their friends are, what messages are left on their board, so to speak should not be accessible for the world to see. This keeps confusion to a minimum and allows us to have privacy. The only folks, I believe that should have this sort of access to see visitor notes are the moderators and staff.

I know I am being nitpickey but I don't like the new status tag. The Platinum/Premium Member/Staff/Guide ones.

I thought the names being in the different colors was quite obvious. Maybe not to a new person though I guess.

I am quickly running out of things to whine about. Stop it!!!!

Actually, I was upset by all the changes. The response by Brian and those behind the scenes though has me totally floored.

It's not normal to whine and complain and have a business actually care. I'm glad I upgraded my membership.

you can hide Visitor Messages from the public by selecting Limit usage of Visitor Messages to Contacts and Moderators option located within the Edit Options page

This will limit access to messages to your contacts and staff.

to converse privately you would use Private Messages
