Nurses Announcements

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

Just wanted to give you a heads up. You will start seeing some Sponsored Topics on the site. These are articles that are sponsored by schools and other institutions......they are not spam but are submitted with the approval of allnurses.com.

The views expressed in the sponsored articles are those of the advertiser and do not necessarily reflect those of allnurses.com, its parent company, or its staff.

We hope that these will provide some informational value for our readers.

Our first Sponsored Topic, brought to you by Capella University, is now open for viewing in the Online Nursing Schools and Colleges forum.

Informatics: What is it? What can I do with it?

Is there going to eventually be a separate forum section, or some other way to distinguish these topics from regular threads? On the other sites where I work as staff, we have separate sections for supporting vendors to post their material. The vendor also has moderating privileges over their forum section only. This makes it easy for the general membership to find this material.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Thanks for the suggestion.

So, it's advertising disguised as content ... I hope these topics are going to continue to be clearly labeled as such.

Specializes in Family Practice, Mental Health.

After following the link provided in the original post, it looks to me like it is the advertisement posting equivalent of an “informercial”. Educational for someone who is curious about information technology.

Specializes in Oncology.

I think my time participating on this site is coming to a close. This form of marketing is directly letting things that members of this site have specifically rallied against, like for profit colleges churning out MA's, prey on vulnerable populations looking for the reliable advice that made AN popular.

Specializes in Med nurse in med-surg., float, HH, and PDN.

just....ugh.

Specializes in Programming / Strategist for allnurses.

Contrary to what you believe - this is not just about advertisers. This is more about our readers.

We want to provide our readers with information. Information that they can use.

Everyone here purchases products and services for their career, self, or home. Wouldn't it be great to get feedback from others who already purchased said product or service? Wouldn't it be great to get feedback from company representatives? Wouldn't it be great to ask questions and get answers? Did you know those shoes that you planned on purchasing starts breaking apart after first use? Now you know. Did you know that NCLEX book comes with printable flash cards? Now you know. Did you know that XYZ CEU is not acceptable in some areas? Now you know.

Sponsored Articles can be really helpful if/when people participate.

Sponsored Articles are informative and unobtrusive. They can be Q/A's, informational, reviews, opinions, case studies, personal stories, tutorials, or interviews. They will ALWAYS be helpful to our readers. They will always be open for comments. Maybe this one is not helpful to you but others may find it useful.

So please ... participate in them ... ask questions ... these discussions will help many many people.
