It's a privilage for it to be free here, however, i completely disagree that it must be free. That's really in the hands of the administrator.

As much bandwidth that's required now, i wouldn't be surprised if it all cost something someday

Paying members who have ability to support the board have access to posting in three premium member forums. Anyone can read the info posted, just not participate in discussion so they general member do have access to material.

However 150+ other forums are available for general membership discussion participation. Think that's pretty fair in overall scheme.

    Absolutely.... tremendously fair.

My concern was directed at the idea that anything related to the advancement of the profession should be for paying members only.

I hope my enthusiastic support of the present arrangement is not in doubt.

I agree, the non-paying members should have complete access to all subject matter R/T the advancement of the health care profession.

BTW, I recently became a Premium member, after several years of being a non-paying member. I decided my $$$ would be well used by allnurses.com.

I just signed up for my second year as well. Brian it would be nice to have more then two days notice of the renewal. How about 2 weeks? If it has not been payday weekend I would not have been able to renew by the 23rd. We still live paycheck to paycheck. :imbar

I agree with this. 2 days is just not a long time.

I so totally object to this whole idea.

Information about nursing needs to be free, must be free on this board.

Premium membership should give us the ability to interact in or play with the "fun" or "superfluous" parts of this board, such as the breakroom, current events, games, chat, photo galleries, etc.

Reading the premium membership forums should be accessible to all.

The entire board is devoted to, among other things, sharing professional information and support. The previous poster suggests that this should only exist for "paying customers."

You will never get everyone to pay for membership. Many just can't afford it. We are over 100,000 members now, many from foreign countries, many from so-called "third world" nations. What we pay for membership can be a month's pay for them.

To deprive them--or any of us-- of access, because of a failure to pay, to anything that improves the quality of nursing skills and hence the overall development of our profession on a global level is unconscionable.
    I agree to disgree respectively,

I disagree with the concept of all fun and no learning. People will be able to read the board just cannot send a reply. You can reply by stating it on the main chat boards by opening a new thread in the general discussion.

I do not agree to pay for games when I can go to Yahoo games for free or aol games. That is my opinion for myself.

I would like to see a combination of things for those who need to play games and others who seek out other information to increase their knowledge.
I enjoy to see a combination and not just one sided.

Everyone is entitle to their opinion and their perspective. There are no lost or winners here and this thread is to improve the premium membership for everyone not for an individual.

My two cents......Do not attack....contribute to the cause and choose your battles prior to your attack.
