Well my problem with the star system is you look at how many stars a person has, you have to note the color and then you have to remember what level of post each star represents. A lot of translation has to go in my mind just to get the information I used to be able to get at a glance.
I truly have hardly used AN since the change and I know AN runs on ad revenue and user subscriptions so you need to keep us coming back.
I feel like I can't identify exactly who is posting what kind of nurse they are how often they receive likes for their posts and it makes me not care about what they have to say. I mean it really makes a difference since I'll take the opinion over a seasoned nurse in my speciality any day over the opinion of a prenursing student for example. A general forum it wouldn't matter so much but this is I believe a forum of professionals trying to better their profession.
I miss that the home page used to have a list of the most currently posted threads.
It's all about information since the layout is rather pretty.
Thank you so much for the feedback. This helps us a lot.
The star system, as was pointed out in the other thread in the Information Center, is based on the same type of medals that athletes win: bronze, silver, gold
So, think of it like that. You will increase each star as you increase your post count. Once members reach a certain amount of bronze stars, they go to the next level, silver, and then to gold. So, you don't have to remember anything, I don't think.
As for identifying the members, you can enable the user "box" by going to your account, options, edit settings. Then, if you want the box to stay open, enable, "show user information". But, the box stays open all the time on every single member. Most members, including me, prefer to disable the box. You can then click on the Stars, the information box opens, and you can read their years of experience, education, number of likes/posts. The box stays open until you leave the page, then it closes.
You can also, at a quick glance, hover over the Stars to see post counts.
I hope this helps answer some of your questions/concerns. And, thank you for your feedback.
