I just wanted to pass along that I do not spend time on allnurses.com specifically because you do not allow linking in our signature.

I would spend much more time engaged in the community, as would other nurse bloggers and entrepreneurs, if you embraced this and allowed our links.

What do you mean allow links in your signature? Advertising/solicitation in nature?
  5. If you want to advertise, you should contact the site admins to pay for advertising space.
  6. most other forums allow you to have your links in your signature and other items.

All nurses does not. It does promote engagement in nurses in the community and sharing of content from nurse bloggers.
It's not a good collaborative effort and does not promote the most out of the online nursing community.

I don't want to buy advertising. I want to be able to have my personal blog links with the comments I make. In case someone has further interest in my opinions or wants to read more, they have an opportunity to connect with me more easily.

There are many nurse bloggers who do not post at all nurses because of the restriction of links in signatures.

Of course its in our best interest to keep commentary at our site.

Members are welcome to place their own website link in their profile--

Go to bottom of the About me page to locate and enter:

Many AN members surf the web and visit/comment elsewhere. Ocassionlly, I'll check out my favorite bloggers to see what's going on elsewhere in the blogosphere along with regional newspapers to keep up with whats going in the the world outside PA.

On the flip side, many forums do not allow sigs because it promotes spam and/or poor quality posts.

We allow Premium/Platinum members to have non-promotional signatures ONLY because the chances of a donator spamming the site decreases considerably.

On top of that, signatures are not always displayed. We have a character limit on when a signature is displayed. eg. 250 characters

allnurses.com continues to grow year over year because we are proactive when it comes to spam. This will never change.

  9. one bad apple really does spoil the whole bunch.

If my Nursing Blog is viewed as spam here, then that is really unfortunate.

And wanting to keep traffic here is really... well selfish.

Nurse bloggers and others involved in social media should promote each other online just like we promote each other in nursing.

Suggesting advertising is a sign to me that it may be much more about money than promoting connections and community.

If you choose to delete this post/thread - it will pretty much confirm that. But you do what you have to do.

We do allow, as pointed out above, blog links and/or business web links in the member profile. Members who are interested in what you have to say on the public boards can click your name, find your links, and go to your blog/website. This is our way of allowing this and does promote your product, to a point.

Our TOS may be a little more strict than other websites, but it is the TOS that has guided our members/staff and elevated this site to a professional standard.

We hope this answers your questions.
