It's getting harder to read some posted text so we removed/edited the options permanently.
Lately, we've been getting too many people taking advantage of the formatting options.
On many posts you couldn't even read the text because the poster changed the color/size/type of font. This makes it hard for some readers to read the message. Other people were copying / pasting text from other sites - when you do this the system will do it's best to match color/size/type. In many cases, the outcome was text that couldn't be read - too small, no contrast between text color and background, etc.
When using color/size/type a lot of people are not aware that what they see may not be the same thing that another reader sees on their end.
Let's say you selected Comic-sans as your font-type, on many computers this font may not exist so the computer selects the closest thing. This font may display larger or smaller on the reader's screen.
With color it all depends on the graphics card / monitor that the reader is using. If they are using an older model it's likely that they are seeing a darker or lighter color.
We have a wide target audience - our age demographics is something like 17-65+ years old. Many of these people have vision problems. We need to make sure that ALL our members are enjoying their time here on allnurses.com.
Our options were...
1.) Keep the options as-is
2.) Remove the options entirely
3.) Edit the options
We decided to remove COLOR (as it is not needed) and edit FONT and SIZE for heading purpose.
If we sit back and let things continue for another 1 to 2 years we would have a HUGE problem in our hands.
If you are having problems reading because text is too small I recommend using your browser's ZOOM function. It will make the entire website larger not just the thread content.
Thank you for understanding!
