Jeff State Preceptor advice

Good evening! I started my 4th semester at Jeff States RN program and had questions for anyone who has done theirs or is currently doing their preceptor. First off how do you get placed into a preceptor (do you choose, rank, tell them your area of interest?). Second, a friend told me its 90 hours of clinicals total for 5th semester. Did you work a couple of times a week in 12 hour shifts? 8 hour shifts? Etc? Does the hospital where you do your preceptorship open doors and increase your chances of a job in that area? I'd love to hear from any of you regarding your preceptor experience and how you went about getting to that point. Thank you!!
