Register Today!- Jul 10, '12 by n.igmatic1kaesmith2011, Hoover Fire Station #7 offers BLS healthcare provider classes free to Hoover residents or $20.00 for non-residents. You have to sign up on their webpage, but they also have a link to take an online class but you have to pass a skills test at the fire station. There is no charge for that option. If you go to the class, make sure you sign up for healthcare provider, not heart saver..:: HOOVER FIRE DEPARTMENT :.. to register for the class, go to the services tab> hover at CPR and click the registration form. Hope that helps. This was a much less expensive option than Red Cross or YMCA in my opinion.
- Jul 10, '12 by kngsbardLocal Fire Dept's are a good place to check for the CPR training. Does anyone know a good place for getting the Hep shots?
- Jul 10, '12 by n.igmatic1Try the Health Dept in the county where you live. That said, call them first. Shelby Co. is no longer offering adult Hep B. Also if you have health insurance, schedule a physical and ask at the time you make the appointment about getting vaccines/titers, and have your insurance cover it. Hep B is a 3 shot series.
- Jul 10, '12 by kaesmith2011Thank you
I hope we only have to have the CPR done before class not orientation. And yea the Hep shots take 3 months to get them done. Once every month.
- Jul 10, '12 by n.igmatic1At orientation the deadlines for attaing the required documentation will be given. The CPR card takes 4-6 weeks to be received but I was given a letter stating I took the CPR class and passed at health care provider level. I have a good friendWho is in the program, so I knew back in April what all was needed.
- Jul 11, '12 by kaesmith2011So at orientation they will give us like a checklist of all things we have to get done before class? I was wondering how they expected us to know what all to have done when they haven't told us anything but the background check. I mean I know we can ask friends or others who are in it all ready but I figured that can't expect to ask others if they haven't given us a list and deadlines....
- Jul 11, '12 by n.igmatic1At orientation we will get a packet with forms that have to be filled out and turned in that day, but it will also have other forms and the specific deadlines for the additional information. I think that due to reading other threads and knowing folks already in the program, a lot of people have a general idea of what will be required and have taken steps to get a jump on that stuff. But as for now, the only things we HAVE to have done is the background check submitted by Aug 3, and the receipt required to have photos for our ID badges taken at orientation. They don't expect anything other than what we have been specifically told to provide. Next week!! So excited!kngsbard and kaesmith2011 like this.
- Jul 11, '12 by kaesmith2011Ok good. I was so worried lol. I forgot the CPR certification expires lol. I took mine two years ago... But I am soooo stoked for tuesday I can't believe it has been adverse a month that we all were worried and stressing over acceptance lol.
