Headed to South Alabama for Summer Term

U.S.A. Alabama

Published

Hey everyone,

I am headed to the Mobile campus and starting this summer. I was wondering if anyone else was headed down there. I am entering the program as a prior degree student, and excited to get this journey started. Anyone have any feedback on this program, living area, want to throw in their two cents, or just want to post something about mobile or the university please feel free. I have looked through the other threads but nothing has really jumped out about this program. I will also answer any questions some of you may have if I can

I am starting the program this summer at South Alabama, Mobile Campus as well. I am really excited and I think the way they have rearranged the course of study is great. My sister in law finished at south in Dec. 2006, and has been giving me some general do's and dont's of nursing school. I am feeling really good about this. I am looking for this to pass by fast

OMG. I have been searching for someone else going to USA Mobile beginning this summer. I am from Mississippi and dont even know where I am going to live yet. Any suggestions? Heard I need to focus on West Mobile area.

Thanks!:)

How have they rearranged the course of study? Do you mean fewer hours for summer term?

When I said that the course of study has been changed, I guess I should have said that the classes are given in a different order. It looks like the only the thing that might be on the down side is that we have MedSurg (or as the paper says Adult Health) combined into 1 semester which is next summer.

I think that The Grove (student apartments) are nice, and close to campus, but I am not sure how much they are a month. I did hear that Cabana apartments has a special going on (500 dollar discount or something). You should probably start thinking about where you are going to live, I know the waiting lists at some complexes can be long. I am so glad that someone else is on here that will be starting school at the same time that I am.

:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

WOW, a response! My Mom and I are heading to Mobile on Friday to check out the apartments. Thanks for the info. Have you already made plans? I cant wait until our Nurses Orientation Day so I can meet everybody. I am anxious to get things started and buy my uniforms and books!

Thanks again!

Just got back from mobile this weekend. We went all through Mobile looking for places to live, and realized that west mobile is the place to concentrate on. Also there is a mellow mushroom close to campus which is great. I am also moving from Mississippi, and I do not know anyone at USA. However I did see the new building and it looks great, and west mobile is really separated from the actual mobile area. Everything is not too far away so i am excited to get this program started.

I am from Madsion, U?

Any ideas on apartments?

i have lived in mobile all of my life. we live about 5 mins. from the campus. i am looking foward to the orientation day as well. i am not sure if we even need our uniforms the first semester, because we don't have clinicals. but i am sure that they will let us know for sure at orientation. i also was told that you do not have to order them the day of orientation, you can go to the actual vendors' location and order them at a more convienent time. :twocents:

i do like the west mobile area just because that is the area that i grew up in! it is the most reasonable place to be if you want easy access to the campus. believe it or not, i have never been to mellow mushroom before. i have been at south alabama for some years now, so i do know a couple of people that will be entering the program for the summer. i am sure that it will be others i know or look familar once i start. do you have any medical background? i have been looking on this website for some pointers and i have gotten some good ones! overall, south is a good school. i love ms. bowman , the records specialist at the con. she handles things so well and she tries to work with you as much as you can. i am so excited and looking forward to this experience. with god's favor :wshgrt:and guidance, i believe that i am going to enjoy this and it is going to be fall 2010, before we know it. i plan to be very positive as you can see and i plan to avoid those that are "debbie downers". ;)

I finished my biology degree from Ole Miss, and have been lucky enough to pick up on some things related to the medical field. Quick question, I mailed my forms off the second week of march and never received anything except the orientation information for the regular college, have you guys received anything. And anyone know any other male nurses going to USA? May is going to get here fast, but I can't wait
