Any on the job CNA trainings??

South Haven Health and Rehab in Hoover. Its just north of the Galleria. Thats the closest thing I know of to your area. They are owned by NHS which has several facilities around Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. They also have a pretty good tuition reimbursement program. They send you to their company owned class in Homewood for two weeks, then you train for 30 days on the job, and finally they send you for your test at another facility in Brimingham, boom your a CNA. Pay isn't too good while you train, but hey, you cant beat free. There is a place in Bessemer that charges about $500, Lawson charges $1200, and I think Jeff State is $800.

Noland Health Services does offer CNA classes and they pay you while you train. I was certified by them while taking my prereqs for nursing school. Just be prepared to have an extremely heavy work load and know going in that you may have to be a little assertive to get at test date. These classes are offered for free because the turn over rate for CNA's is around 360%. It's just a way to keep warm bodies showing up. With that said - I learned so much that it was worth it to me. During clinicals the hands on patient care came naturally to me. Good Luck

heavy work load is an understatement some nights. i went in on my off day last night to pick up extra hours. good thing i did or my floor would have been all on one cna...thats 48 beds...
