Specialties Agency

Published

My hubby wants to relocate the family to the Seattle area and I wonder how the agency market is up there...anyone have any insight or experiences to offer? Sure is a beautiful part of the country!

If anyone has opinions about this area from a staff or agency/travel nurse perspective and prefers not to post it, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thanks a bunch!!:roll

It's gotta be better then Texas... lol...

Seriously, I wish you well. I once talked with someone about the differences of Denver and the Seattle area and the feedback was very positive for more needs and more money.

Specializes in Everything except surgery.

Hey Mattsmom..:)! I would be glad to tell you about agency in Seattle! Are you considering the relocate as a travel nurse? I would love for you to come to the area! I can tell you some of the agencies to stay away from, and the ones to check out. Also which hospitals to stay away from..:chuckle! I have worked at about 8 of them there.

I will be taking a travel assignment back in Washington next month, after taking two weeks off. I will have a 3 bedroom house, so feel free to come on up and visit..!

Truthfully I have been a bit disappointed in my renewed agency work here...seems like the agencies have given up a lot of their power and are coddling the facilities more than they need to...:(

Glad to hear positives about Seattle! Thanks!

YOU bet..... I am sure you will let us know how you are doing and how things are progressing.

I'm overseas and the family is looking to relocate-interesting enough Seattle keeps coming up. What's agency nursing all about-the good, bad and the ugly pls?

Hi Sandbox and welcome! If you scroll up and down in the forum you'll have plenty of reading about the pros and cons of agency...Seattle is a gorgeous part of the country!!

There were lots of agency jobs posted in the Seattle papers so I'm sure you won't have trouble finding work there per diem or contract. :)

All agency work has the occasional 'dry spell' which we get used to and plan for. The biggest pro for me is the ability to stay out of politics and not get 'sucked in'...which is always a major energy drain for me (and many nurses)....and why we like agency. :)

Those of us who like agency are independent, confident and flexible and don't need a solid relationship with the staff to give good patient care and be happy in our career. We thrive in varied environments, and enjoy travel. I have friends who really thrive on familiarity... they would never do agency work. We're all different. :)

We get dumped on occasionally...but we never have to go back either. Big plus for perdiem work. :)
