Hello! I am temporarily doing some Registry/Per Diem shifts and was wondering if anyone had any advice on health insurance companies? I have been looking online, and there are so many companies my head is starting to spin. I would like to hear any opinions (good or bad) on some of the insurance companies out there! The high deductible plans look alright for what we need... just wondering if anyone has experience with this! Thanks!

Blue Cross Blue Shield is usually the best choice for private insurance (called Anthem where I live). I'm currently paying about $200 a month for myself (one significant pre-existing) with a $5,000 deductible. I get the contracted prices on physician visits, medications, and labs, and have taken advantage of free phone consults with in-house specialists. I tried to max out the deductible a couple of years ago with a ton of labs, foot surgery, doctor visits, and upper and lower scopes but I couldn't do it. Turns out that the scope was not subject to the deductible, nor is an annual physical with a primary care physician. I believe the ACA locks in those annual benefits along with some other things not subject to deductibles.
