by ashleylynne Aug 22, '12I am a licensed Esthetician and have just started my first semester at a community college taking prerequisites in hopes of getting excepted into the Associate Nursing program. I've heard from a few people in the last few days that there are no longer job opportunities for RN's with AS. Am I wasting my time with this? Will I be able to find a job?

I think you are on the right page. Nurses will always be able to find a job, now where...thats a different story
If you are already a licensed esty, becoming a nurse will add to your current experience and pay. The key, I think, is to market yourself. I am a RN and have been for sometime and am tired of "floor nursing" I have an entrepreneurial spirit so I want to combine nursing with esthetics. Im not sure though if this will be a good move so I'm looking to network here on allnurses.com. I hope you continue your education and not give up. Nursing is a good field and has always saved me from financial ruin! Good luck!janeyjane likes this.
