Hi all--

I am really interested in the medical aesthetics thing--botox, stuff like that. Anybody know where I can get trained? I live in Colorado, by the way.

THANKS :p

I have been to quite a few forums, I have to say this is the most "happening" forum related to nurse aesthetics.:roll

Yes, this is true. However, I have not found a post here where someone talks about salary. So, can anybody give me an idea of how much a Aesthetic nurse makes according to experience?

Thanks!

Hi guys! I am brand new to this forum but are enjoying all the input about aesthetics nursing. I have been a practicing RN for the past 8 and a half years with half my experience in the acute care setting and half in the clinic setting. I plan to go the the Esthetic Skin Institute in June for their 9 day seminar, with my ultimate goal being to own and run my own Medspa. I know it's going to be a lengthy process to get there, and I would appreciate any and all of your input as far as "the best way to start". I have considered talking to some plastic surgeons and dermatologists in my area to see if they would hire me per diem to provide these services to their clients to gain expertise in these skills, and with hopes to one day find a medical director for my Medspa. One question I have for all if you is how difficult was it for you to obtain your medical director? This is my biggest worry as I plan to open shop on the island of Kauai, one of the smaller islands, so physicians are not overtly abundant in my area. I would greatly appreciate any and all of your input.

I am planning on going into the field of Aesthetics, and I will need to attend some kind of training program/school/workshop. Based on your experiences, what is the best choice? Where should I go?

Thanks!

Leo,

I went to AEI, Aesthetic Enhancement Institute. They are based in Florida but do the seminars in several other states throughout the year including New Jersey, Virginia, and California. The have many courses-facial aesthetics (chemical peels and microdermabrasion), dermal fillers, sclerotherapy, tatoo removal, and other ones that I can't remember. You can take all of them or just one. I took the facial aesthetics one, because I can do those procedures where I live without a doctor. They run about $2000 for each course I think. Each course is 1-2 days depending on which one you choose. And sometimes they offer all the courses together at the same place spanning 1-2 weeks. So if you want to take all of them at once, you can. There is also a place in Texas I heard about that I really wanted to go to, but i couldn't work that one out. I can't remember the exact name, something like "Dallas Advanced Medical Aesthetics." The owner is Dr. Fam. He instructs too I think. I sent an email to the link provided at their site, and he wrote me back personally. Their program teaches all the courses together and is about 2 weeks. Its more expensive of course but cheaper than paying for each separate course taught at the other places. Hope that helps.

I will let you know about the Austin Medical Aesthetic Seminar that I will be attending from January 20-24 , 2007.

I called today and found out that it will cost $100 to place an ad in the local ad mailer for my aesthetic business. I would only need to get two customers as a result in order to not lose money from placing the ad. Has anyone seen good results with placing these types of ads? This paper reaches 100,000 homes in the area.

Sounds like a great idea.

Also, remember most newspapers will post a "news release" for free where you can explain you business and your background as well a submit a picture of yourself.

I am an RN and also have an esthetician license. I haven't been able to apply for any jobs yet due to an injury, but I attended an epidermal leveling class and one of the girls working in a plastic surgeon's office told me the

RN's make $60/hr. here in AZ.

Hi Tanya,

I am new to this site and saw your posting of the course you are planning to attend in Texas. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide about the course. I am currently in Aesthetician school expecting to graduate in February. Beauty school training is a whole other topic, but in my state, it is better to be a licensed esthetician in addition to RN for private practice. Good luck @ the course!!

I've been going to SCORE, it's a free service from the government. Basically retired business professionals volunteer their service to help small buisness owners succeed. They have these centers all around the nation; I think there website is score.org

Who at the newspaper do you contact to get your news published? I feel like everytime I call I get directed to the advertising department.
