Hello Im a new RN grad looking to get into Aesthetic nursing in Arizona. I am looking for any tips advice the route that others have taken, really any information would be of help to me at this point. I am not trying for my own business at this time just looking for experience and the best way to obtain it. Right now I am confused with titles and what exactly they mean? Example Aesthetic nursing or Medical Aesthetics? Or do you have to take an aesthtics course or will a day spa or med spa train you? Anyway any advice is welcomed thanks so much!

Hello I am wondering are there any Aesthetic nurses out there that can give me advice on how to break into the field? I am a new grad RN living in Arizona that would like to change the direction of my career. I have done a little research and I am debating if I want to end up dermatology NP? So far that is where I feel I want to be, Now I have found one to two schools but now I have to research Aesthetics verses Medical Aesthetics I really want to learn make up and work with lasers and facial peels but Im sure it wouldnt kill me to learn other things as well, any advice you could give me I would be soo very appreciative for thanks!

I am also a New Grad RN who just moved to AZ. Did you find any answers to your questions? Like you I am very interested in this field but have been unable to find definitive information on how to get a foot in the door.

Hello! I began my first nursing job, as an Aesthetic Nurse in February. I love it! The pay is great, as is the ability to utilize my creative outlet. I worked at the Med Spa for 7 months before sitting for boards. During that time, I shadowed and assisted the doctor. Since I do not want to lose the skills I learned in nursing school and plan to apply to grad school soon, I will begin floor nursing next month (and inject part-time). It is possible! Best of luck!

Good on you! Please share your experiences with us! Good luck with everything!

I had a hard time finding a medspa that would train me without any courses or experience first. I tried two trainings: Empire a couple years ago which was good. It was good for the basics and I got some hands on training for botox and dermal fillers. The group was pretty big though so I felt like the hands on was rushed a bit and I didn't get as much attention as I wanted. I refreshed my training recently at Skin Savvy Aesthetics. A friend had told me about a doctor who does 1 on 1 or small group trainings at her office, and it was really personable and cheaper! Plus I learned some advanced techniques that she said patients would commonly ask for. I now feel pretty confident that, with those courses, I can apply for some aesthetic jobs and actually get my foot in the door with them. Good luck everyone!
