I applied for NCLEX via the Vermont Board of Nursing. Do they issue the license card even if you have no SS number yet?

Thanks for your response Suzanne...i mentioned before that my brother is about to enroll in IELTS and yet you said MD also requires TOEFL. Does he have to take both? Also, you said "MD will permit him to endorse w/o the CGFNS exam" which sounds encouraging although i gather that might not be the case anymore with them but can you explain more what "endorse" means.Right now our decision is to request an application from VT. If in the future he was able to get an ATT from VT and passed the NCLEX in HK, does this mean that he has no choice but to work in VT? Thanks in advance for your help...

Just because you get a license in a state does not mean that you are required even to put a foot in the state. I have had licenses in the past for states that I ended up not working in.
Please check out the webiste for Maryland to see their requirements. And yes, even if he takes the IELTS series, Maryland still requires the basic TOEFL exam. The states that have actual requirements, still want TOEFL.
As far as endorsing to there, check out what their application states, License by Endorsement" --- each state is free to change their requirements, last time I checked, CGFNS exam was not needed for endorsement.
Thanks for the reply Suzanne4. i understand that the different BON from different states evaluates credentials at a different rate so in essence some would give eligibility to test faster than the other right? so if this is the case let's say i apply for new mexico and new jersey and take the nclex on whoever will give me the faster eligibility to test. i don't mind the fee if i can take the nclex faster.
And what good is it going to do you? Nothing at all. There as issues with going for initial licensure with any state, you need to outweigh them. NM does not require the CEs, NJ does. So automatically, NM is going to be faster. But agian, where do you want to work?
Vermont is fast, but they require a local license. Or a letter stating why you did not take the exam, but if you are one that took the exam, but do not have a license yet, and the scores may not in fact be counted, what is the hurry? You may not be able to do things that fast.
As I keep saying, when you try to take a shortcut, it will turn around and bite you. Decide first where you wish to work, not which is the fastest. Vermont does not require the CEs, but NJ does. NJ is also not fast with endorsments.
You can do what ever you wish, the only time that I recommend that someone go to a second state is when there has been an issue that is taking long to solve, definitely not in your case. You are free to do as you want and spend your money the way that you want. You asked for my opinion, and I gave it.

hello
suzanne mentioned that if you did take the exam, you must give ur license number, or it does not count...but some of my friends say that it is possible to
-write a letter why no license#
-photocopy the claim slip for the local license
-attach a certification from the prc that you passed the board exam.
i would just like to clear things, or if not confirm with the vt bon?
thats all thanks

Hi, I checked whether VT BON received my application, they did, but I noticed that under Verification of Education and Education Transcripts Received, they put False there, what does that mean? For the Copy of Current License Received, it is True. Thank you so much

congratulations on your passing the NCLEX! :balloons:
i'm following your posts because i'm learning a lot from you and many others here.. i'm thinking also of applying for licensure in VT and eventual endorsement to another state.. i'm amazed by how fast your application went. i should say you're blessed!
i will appreciate your further feedback on how fast you were able to have your VT license endorsed to another state and what state is that.
best wishes to your further endeavor!
