Student nurses graduated in philippines but starting to settle in USA?

  1. 0 Hello guys, my name is Lambert. I just want to ask help with you guys how i can do become a registered nurse here in US (Florida) well in fact i didn't yet take nursing board or i mean i'm not yet a registered nurse in the philippines. I just finished my study there but right after i moved here in US.

Please give me some info. so i could take action from your advices or comments. I just really don't know. My mother keeps pushing me to continue my nursing career but im not really sure what first step should i take on. Or, i was also thinking if coming back to philippines to take the NLE is right to do so. Because some other says that i should be registered nurse first before i can take the NCLEX.

    Thank you,
    Lambert

If you want to register as a RN in Florida then you need to meet requirements as set out on the Florida Board of Nursing website

Good thing, you're not considering CA in your new nursing job adventure to settle in.

Why CA? Is there any problem in pursuing Nursing career in CA?

i suggest contacting the nursing board of florida or go to their website online. Student nurses who graduated outside of the us, specially from philippines, are in a "bit" of a dilema here in Ca. You should apply soon.

Yep, like Kuyafern said, we PH grads have a "slight" problem with our degrees, the majority meaning 1,000's don't meet the CA BON educational requirements and either need to become LVN's, retake a course or two that's nearly impossible to get into, takes maybe up to 18-24 months to get it done, if you're lucky to get enrolled or simply re-do an entire CA nursing program, just a slight detour you might say.

Have you even read the "few" postings here under "denial", can't pass, rejected etc by the CA BON threads?

Just recently someone (Lanze) got rejected by the VT BON for the same concurrency issue or something about the courses were "unacceptable".

Ya right! It's kinda hard in part of us who graduate outside US having no License first. I just don't know what kind of process here in FL.

    Thank you kuyafern!

Yes, better apply like yesterday, I think more and more states may soon enforce or place the same concurrency rules like CA and VT.

    Hi janejuan,

Nice to meet you. Like you I just move here in Florida. I still have some questions regarding taking NCLEX-RN here.
I finished nursing course in Philippines somewhere in Bicol, but unfortunately wasn't able to take board examination there.
What I do is, I searched all about taking NCLEX-RN here in Florida and I tried to contact the Florida Board on Nursing too.
I had found out that they do accept foreign graduate nursing student to take NCLEX-RN in state of Florida providing that they must provide the necessary/required papers in order for you to qualify in taking NCLEX-RN. Then, they asked me to consult CGNFS. CGFNS is an agency that helps you process your papers to what they called as "CES (Credentials Evaluation Service) Review". They will review your documents from the Philippines and send it to Florida Board of Nursing. From there, the Florida Board of Nursing will then approved you or not to take NCLEX-RN.

These are the only things I know about this matter. I hope this help you.
Please leave a comment if I do say wrong or if I'm on the wrong track.

    Sincerely yours,
    Delwin
