There a few that will be made available, so few that they will not even be posted. Chances are very slim to get one if you add in the number of dependents that are included with the RN. If you get one, great....but do not put any hope into it. We are talking of perhaps a few hundred.

With an October completion date, it will be almost impossible, if not definitely impossible. There are many more ahead of you waiting and with much earlier PD dates.

Hi Suzannes:

could you please be specific about your words" there a few that will be made available"? when and how do we know that? I am in the last step of being issued a visa, I hope I have a slim chance.

thanks!:monkeydance:

Hi!

Is it ok if I continue with my visa screening application though there's a ongoing retrogression? I would just like to be enlightened; My IELTS expiry date is fast approaching and I need to pay it myself; since the agency refused to pay it; for the reasons that I initiated it. Help!....:sniff:!

I initiated my vs application in ICHP because my IELTS' expiry date is fast approaching; Also because the agency kept arguing with me, that'll it be on the following year (though they counter-checked that I am correct) still; they refused to pay for it (Reason- I initiated the application).

I am lost. I don't know what to do; If in case I paid for it( At present situation) Will it be useful? Or am I just throwing my money away? Please Help!....:sniff:! Thanks.

HI

This is Ann H Husband so please excuse me if I have got this all wrong but after reading this thread it makes more sense to me than anything Ann has been saying:

Retrogression means they have stopped the category ‘A’ visa that a RN Nurse was privileged to get and regrouped the nurse with another category visa.

So instead of taking 3 years this visa takes 4+ years so when they say to Ann they are working on 2002 priority dates that is exactly what they mean, so Ann who is 2006 I think will have to wait approx 4 years depending on where in 2002 they are.

If she is lucky they may if they feel like it issue some more category ‘A’ visa but they might not who know’s nobody probably.

So my take on this is if the USA is desperate for nurses then congress should get its act together and sort it.

But Congress like Parliament in the UK is full of politicians who play at politics and not what we the people think makes sense.

So my take on this is forget the USA (Easy for me to say I haven’t done the studying) if they don’t make it a sensible process - go somewhere else it’s a big world.

Can anybody advise on if Canada accepts the USA nursing exams?

Ann was looking at the Virgin Islands but I don’t think there is much there but happy to be told different.

Any advise on New Zealand, Australia or other interesting English speaking countries not the UK as we are here already (Lousy weather as usual).

If I have got the statement correct at the beginning of this rant then sorry nurse but get your head out of the sand and move on (it will be the USA that loses out in the end).

We will defiantly not wait more than 6 months and I have said too Ann we need to make up our minds in 4 months time where we go or if we stay in the UK.

Ann will probably tell me off for interfering but I thank you ladies for reading my rant and would love to hear your comments.:chair:

(Fed up waiting for the USA)

I soooooooooo know what you are saying and how you feel. I too have a beautiful Florida home, a job nearby & am up to an approved I-140 but caught up in retrogression with a PD date of July 2007.

We have taken the decision you're just thinking about and have decided to go to Canada. We have great friends there who have always said we should go there instead! My paperwork is with the Embassy, the College of nursing has approved my temporary work permit & now I'm just waiting for the letter asking me to have a medical. All being well we'll be there August/Sept this year. The whole process takes about 9-10 months though - not the 6 you're hoping for! However, at least it's not 2-5 years!

Yes it will be cold in the winter but, like you, we can at least escape to our Florida house occasionally to thaw out! Our friends originally came out from the UK & they have survived over 10 winters now & are very, very happy. They say there's no way they would come back to the UK. Right now their parents are about to join them too.

We just couldn't take the uncertainty & we also had to take account of the age of our eldest child. We didn't want to get into the situation where he became too old to come out with us.

However, I have to say it's really hard getting up the enthusiasm to study for the CRNE after all that work I did to pass the N-CLEX!!!:D

Good luck to you!!

We had finished our application to OZ when we had our call to the US embassy last year. (We had just had enough) We even come to FL last June to make sure our rental property would be good without us for a couple of years.

Been here in the US since Sept and I fully understand I can what you are going through.

Best of luck which ever way it turn out.

I hope you get that envelope soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your expiration date is fast approaching, how far out is it? Not sure where you are with the processing of the VSC either. It can take four months or so before it is issued. And if the English expires before then, then they will not issue it to you.

And the VSC is only valid for five years and then needs to be renewed. It is not needed until you actually have your US Embassy interview.

That is something that only you can decide. The retrogression is not going to be over in five years with the number of people wishing to work in the US, it is only going to get worse for many. Demand far exceeds the number of visas available per year.

You would not be applying for the NCLEX exam, there is no way to do that. You will be applying for licensure as an RN to a state where you are interested in working.

That being said, you have to pass the NCLEX exam in order to get hired and then be able to start the petitioning process. But be aware that you are going to need to look at going to another country to get experience as we are expecting the US to require experience as well as the local license as they did when the CGFNS exam was required for all.

I think that wait time of 5+ years is possible for people from India, China, Mexico, and Philippines. For all others I think it should not exceed 3 years. And the U.S. Government may increase the number of visas available in some near future too.

Sorry, but not true. The US has never increased the number of visas for the EB-3 category. The Schedule A only used visas that were reabsorbed that we not used but additional visas have never been created for this category.

And as long as there are areas where there are not going to be current visas, then the retrogression continues. Demand is far exceeding supply a tthis time. Even if you look at some of the smaller countries, they are maxed out on the number that they can send here per year as well.

And then look at all of the nurses that have been waiting for three years from the UK and you will see what I am talking about. Do not just look at things now, but how things have been over the past ten years as well as the significant increase in the number of nurses that wish to work in the US. And you will find a completely different picture.

The bill that is before the House right now only has 20,000 visas in it per year, similar to the Schedule A, except that spouses and children will not be counted in the numbers but will still get a visa. That is only a drop in the scheme of things when you take into account those that alredy have completed petitions and have been just waiting for a green card number to be available for them.

For those that have not started the petitioning process as of yet, then the wait is going to be even longer than the five years. Just do the math and you will see what we are talking about.

And then expect the US to require experience in a paying job as most other countries do, and that is going to take quite a few out of the equation at the very least.

What is "not true"? Anything may happen in the future. The current quotas has not been changed for over ten years and simply does not meet the requirement of businesses. Besides, because of the way USCIS works over 200,000 EB visa numbers had been wasted over the last ten years. In my opinion EB quota will increase in the the couple of years and there are some positive signs that that USCIS is serious about not wasting any more visa numbers in the future. And even if the current system will stay the same the EB3 for most countries will become current in the next 2-3 years anyway (for those who filed in July 07 and earlier except for India, China, Mexico, and Philippines).
