Hi everyone! Im just curious if I'm going to attach the form filled out by the University registrar together with the rest of the application or should the school mail it? Thanks

The school must send it, and it needs to be an official copy. No licensing board, or anywhere else will accept a copy from you.

I passed the board but the PRC has not issued a professional License card yet...could a PRC certification of passing the board exam be accepted instead in my application for the VT state? Im afraid the release of the license number will take a while..:( does anyone know?

It requires the actual license. Same way that you cannot endorse a license here if you do not have a number, which means that you do not have a license until you get the number. It wants license proof, not that you passed the exam.

hello, hi suzanne4

this thread is very helpful and have answered most of my queries, though i have some just to follow up.

1) may i submit my nclex application to vt bon w/o a license or is it better to wait for my license to be processed?

-i have taken my local board, passed and applied for my ratings. i also want to apply for vermont yet...

is there much assurance despite i dont have my license yet (2-4 mos from now) but will write a letter and forward it thereafter when it is released?

hi suzanne! i noticed that you know alot about the application process from reading your posts. i'm hoping you can guide me because i'm really confused regarding my NCLEX app. please share your wisdom.

i took the local boards last june here in the phil and i didn't pass. i no longer plan to work here and my first choice of state in the US is new jersey. however, their application form says you have to be a US citizen or resident alien. i don't even have a visa. CGFNS is also stated in the requirements for foreign grads but a friend said CES will do. is that true?

If in case i'm not qualified for NJ, i don't which state would be appropriate for me to apply at. New Mexico doesn't require local license so i already prepared all the application requirements for it. i just need to send it. however, i want to explore my other state options because i don't really know anyone there nor do i know much about the place. it's justv that a classmate got eligibility there so i figured i can apply there too.

you mentioned something about new york. am i eligible for that state even if i failed the local boards? i'm also considering vermont because i prefer the place over NM.

please advice. thank you so much.

Hi,

I think the Vermont BON is one of the fastest to process NCLEX applications, but I'd like to know how long would it take to get a license by endorsement say for California or New York once you already have the Vermont license? Thanks.

BTW, according to a release by the Vermont BON, Vermont is one of the most popular destinations for foreign first-time NCLEX aplicants, but only a few who pass the exams actually end up working in this US state.

Foreign RNs usually use it for initial licensure then endorse to another state.

Everyone is welcome to work in Vermont if you want to.. as long as you can manage the cold. It's very cold up there.

NY still will require the CVS before you can endorse. Many other states will still require the CES. Just by going the route of VT does not necessairly make it faster for you in the long run.

CA is easy to endorse to, but you will not get a license from there until you have a SSN#.

It depends on where you wish to work, that is what should guide you as to where to go for initial licensure. VT approves you the fastest, but it will take about a month for you to get your license number assigned. So in those terms, it is not the fastest.

Hi Suzanne,

What would be a wiser route to choose for a person hoping to get an RN license in CA-- would he be better off applying with the CA BON right away or going through Vermont BON first and then applying for endorsement in CA?

CA BON has such a reputation that applicants often wait up to a year just to be able to sit for the NCLEX, while Vermont BON looks very attractive with its relatively quick processing time of NCLEX applications. Isn't this correct?

Maybe it can be argued that this strange situation--where it would be faster to get a license in a desired state by first applying through another state--is unique only to CA. I don't think the same would apply to New Mexico, another favorite for first-time NCLEX applicants, or to Illinois. In this case, then applying directly to the desired state is the wiser move.

Hope you can share your thoughts. Thanks.

Vermont does require a license in the home country, or another country, however they do waive that with a letter. But if you have taken the exam, you will need to wait until you get an actual license number assigned. Just saying that you took it and passed, will not suffice. This is why I keep saying that it is better not to even test in the first place. It only delays you with the system that the PRC has set up.

It is very easy to endorse to CA from another state if you are from the Philippines and have a BSN. You can submit the application for License by Endorsement to CA, then eveything will be done and as soon as you give them the SSN#, they will issue you a hard copy license in about one week.

The other major reason that I do not like CA for initial licensure is that it also takes about one month to get your results, and most are going crazy here after justone day of waiting.

I see, or you may apply in other states not requiring a license then endorse it later to the state you'd wish to work.

as for the ssn #, may I apply for endorsement w/o it since I'm a foreign grad?

Or I will apply for the ssn when I go to CA after my endoresement is complete?

thanx
