Need Help On Cgfns Examination

Hi Everybody I think I need some help with the CGFNS Ex. I've just failed on July 2003. Iwas really sure that I did well, but I failed. the major problem is that as I'm not living in US i had to travel specially for the examination. And as the comunication with the CGFNS was no as fluent as I would expect, I was told that I was rostered only a few days before the examination date. So I traveled under great stress, I mean, Ihad never been to NY and I traveled by myself. The trip was really great; the only problem was that I failed. I really studied quite little, I have to say. i used The CGFNS study guide and KAPLAN.

Can anobody recomend other sources of study? Can any body has any experience on CGFNS EX. Thank you. FABY

thank you Isabel for your thoughts. As my score was only 7 points under the minnimun required, I requested a rescoring service a month ago, and I still don't have the new scor. I think I would have to call again next week. the thing is that as my paperwork was so troubled, maybe I was scored wrong. After that I will reapply, maybe for March 2004. thank a lot.

I could'n find any website regarding CGFNS study material. It's all about Kaplan, and other book.Which are very helpful for studying.

You should buy some.In wich city will you show up?, on what date? I'm planning to go to NY on March 2004.

I got my score in the week of November, which was quite fast. I bought Mosby Review studybook, that's a good one. I took the test in Chigago, but I'll take the next test probably in London. I'll be in Europe for a few weeks. Good luck to you too!!

Immigration tells me that anyone entering the USA wil have to present a CGFNS certificate even if their particular Board of Nursing doesn't require it, starting next year. So getting a license from a different state may not be of any help. I've had a license for 7 years and will still have to present the papers.

I already have a greencard. And it doesn't matter where you take the CGFNS test (US or Europe). The CGFNS test in London is the same test as in Chicago, or the Phillipines, or.....

I know it does matter in which state you take the NCLEX (to get the state license you need).

I got married here in the US, which made it a lot easier to get the greencard (6 months). But otherwise, I would have taken the CGFNS exam in my own country, and would have applied for the workvisum to get into the States. That way I could have gone to the US and work as a nurse, and once in the US, I could have applied for adjustment of status/greencard. But that would be a longer process. Wanna do it fast? Get married! (...;-)

By the way, it depends where you apply for the greencard: In alaska it takes 6 months, but in New york it can take close to 2 years. My favorite website: http://www.immihelp.com

I need information form Shadi. Please help me too. I have asked for application form and I got it already. But I have a problem that is I don't have social security number. What should I do? I can't get my social number now...I have to wait. So if anyone know how to apply in which state that easy to apply ...Please tell me ..I really need help.

Hi Arayav: I don't know about other States different from California in which CGFNS is not required. I think you can see in http://www.nursingworld.org/ members. There are all the States and you can contact some to see where CGFNS isn't required. Otherwise you'll have to sit for CGFNS. But as far a s I know it's required in almost every State. Besides since NOV. 2003 CGFNS is a goverment requirement to get the Green Card. FROM URUGUAY,I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK !!!

How many of you that are waiting to take the CGFNS exam have applied and paid for the Visa Screen? This will be a requirement of all nurses after July, 2004, no matter what type of work permit you have, temporary or green card. Visa Screen requires you to be quite proficient in English, speaking, and writing, with scores similar to what a native speaker would have. So for those of you that were having difficulties with any of the forms, please consider more English classes or you will have quite a bit of trouble with your exams. Remember, in the US, you are responsible for any order that you transcribe or take verbally. "My English isn't good enough" is not a viable excuse. Get yourself prepared well.

What is actually the visa screen for? How can it be necessary after July, 2004. Is that mean, I won't need it if I start my working permit and green card application before July, 2004? I really hope I won't need to get any other 'service' from the CGFNS. I hate CGFNS!

Visa Screen is now mandatory for all healthcare personnel wishing to work in the US and obtain a temporary work permit, such as an H1-b or a green card. Previously it was only required for green card applicants. What this also now means that any nurse from Canada on a NAFTA work permit will also need to complete the Visa Screen. It is only a matter of filling out some paperwork, if you registered to take the CGFNS exam and paying the fee. Would recommend that you get the process started as soon as possible because if you wait to do it in the end, it may take you 6 months to a year. I have all of my students start the process as soon as they begin their studies with me so that they won't have a hold-up after completing their exams.
