Licensure requirements for CA for foreign grad

World Immigration

I just graduated from a nursing school in the phils. I wasn't able to take the local board bec. my immigrant visa was about to expire.I was lucky that i was able to finish my course there. My question is do you really have to be a local board passer so you will be eligible to take the CA NCLEX here?I mean even as an immigrant? And for all those foreign grads how long did it take for your application for licensure to be processed?:uhoh3: just wondering....

hi guys,i've read your forum and i was very much enlightened. i have a question though. i'm graduating this december and i'm kinda expecting a baby by feb. and i wanna go to california asap so i could give birth. i won't be able to take the local board or ielts (and stuff like that) anymore. do you guys think they'll let me take the nclex without those? i badly need this. its for my baby. thanks

If you are expecting to go as RN you will need to pass english exams and CA to give you permission to sit NCLEX which they won't be able to do without a full set of transcripts. CA are also taking months and months to give ATT and airplane carriers tend not to let you fly once you are x amount months pregnant.

Airlines are not normally going to let you fly in the last weeks of your pregnancy. And immigration will have issues if the only reason that you are coming is to give birth.

What about the fee for delivery of the baby? Much more than the Philippines and you will be expected to pay for it in full.

Not sure what your concern is to have the baby actually born in the US. It will not change your status at all................both of you can actually follow proper channels and get a green card. Trying to take a short cut will only turn around to bite you later. By him being born in the US is not going to make things any faster for you as far as working in the US. Just because you are the mother, it does not change things for you, as he or she cannot petition you until they are 18 years old. Much faster going the RN route thru legal channels. Not the way that you want to do. It is actually frowned upon here. You also will not have the doctor or nurse that has been caring for you throughout your pregnancy with you.

And emergency is one thing, but to plan toi be in in the US just so that the baby is born here is not the way to do things.

have you read this whole thread yet ? most of your q's are already answered here.

just making sure you know the disadvantages of going thru ca brn directly.

it will be anywhere from 6-12 months before you can receive your results.

most are going thru new mexico or vermont (about 2-3 mos processing time) route 1st then endorse to ca.

when endorsing doesn't actually mean that i have to go to vermont to get my actual license? or do i have to?

can i endorse it via online and mail? thnx

if endorsing to say, ca. you have to apply for "licensure by endorsement" and pay the necessary fees that ca brn wants and of course follow what ca brn's requirements are for endorsing from another state and as well as if a foreign grad.

in addition, you have to instruct your endorsing state, say vt to send ca brn a verification of licensure (whether it be a form or on-line (nursys), depending on the state) that you truly are licensed in vt already. usually will have a fee as well.

you can refer to each bons website for more details. everything is in there

no. you, don't have to be there nor work there to be able to endorse.

here's the link for states that participates in the nursys (on-line license verification): http://www.nursys.com/common.asp?pt=licenseverification

hello guys im also a new grad this year and im thinking if i have a wrong decision to apply NCLEX cali. Bcoz some says it will took me more than 6 months to receive my credibility becoz of large applicants to process and one more thing how if they didnt approve my application... very annoying... So to those want to apply NCLEX think wisely..

it is ELIGIBILITY... not CREDIBILITY. before applying, think first where you really want to work. dont think which is the easiest or the fastest... CA may take about 3-6 mos before they will make you eligible to sit for the exam.

To Lawrence!!!

Thank you for the reply!!!

hi baby_sylyn . yes they will send you the application packet with the confirmation card, there's really no need to call. but if you are leaving this september dont apply at CA BON. it will take you 4-6 mos for the eligibility.

Oh my goodness. I mailed in my application to CA BON Sep 06 second week. I think they received it Sep29 cause my check receipt arrived already with the date I mentioned stamped on it.

SO would I expect eligibility issued around Jan-March 07? :( That's still a long way to go. Plus I did the hardcard process which was a big mistake.

Guys, can i submit an LVN application simultaneous to that of my RN application? Just in case... you know what...

Thanks

Are you a permanent resident already? If not, the LPN will not give you a visa. Are you in CA as well?

They do a credentials eval on each and every applicant, that is why it takes so long........they do their own.......
