How was your medical? How much did you pay?

3 weeks is too long. Why is that?

1. I included my partner as my dependent in my application that's why they asked add'l supporting documents for our De Facto application.

2. We got a little delayed with our Medicals since we didn't know that we won't be needing a go signal for online applicants.

I went to nationwide and it took me 3 hours. Everything went smoothly. I messaged them today and they said that it is on process of final diagnosis by their consultant and they want me to email them back on the 20th. It was about 5,600 if i'm not mistaken

What additional requirements did they asked you to submit for the de facto application?

Our own new grads are finding it hard to get jobs.Some have reported nurses with 5 10 years of experience can't find jobs.They will require a lot of money to become registered here and there is no guarantee of finding a full time job so that they an get a working visa.Many jobs advertised state for one of the criteria - must have right to work in Australia.Many just look and see these adds but do not look further.

Australia as no shortage of inexperienced nurses. Usually overseas Filipino and Indian nurses with no experience have gone to aged care where jobs were plentiful but this now is difficult.

Thank you replying to my question! Yes, that's what I've been trying to tell my friends that the job market has changed so much, it's making our heads spin! Like so many PH grads, myself included, have found the USA market has turned 180 degrees now and seems like AU is also turning around soon.

There are already 14 States in the US that are rejecting just about every PH applicant due to either not meeting the State's concurrency requirements or we are lacking in enough hours in either clinical or theory classes, then we're told to enroll in nearly impossible courses in the States to make up for the deficiencies. In CA, there's one school with 1-2 openings with over 800 applicants after one goes thru an extensive pre-testing before they even allow one to apply.

But all I and some of other friends who have experienced these disappointments and frustrations can only let others know that the road to becoming a nurse in other countries have many many hurdles to get over, unlike several years pass. While it's not impossible, it's nearly there though.

Many of our friends don't believe us, but that's okay, at least we tried to tell them, that's all we can do so that they are not so frustrated later.

As you mentioned that's one area of nursing, many of my friends don't want to work in the aged care field, where I think most of the newly PH grads will end up at, that's great for them and they should go for it!

But we prefer to work with a pediatrics unit, some want to work in L&D, ER, ICU, Oncology, Med-Surg, Cardiac units and the many nursing specialities.

Got my visa already! I'm so happy! 

@vitug.annie: Congrats! :yes:
