    Hi,
    My case no. LND200*******
    P D is 13 Oct 2006
    NVC received it end of Oct 2006.
    Rgds
    October 2006 for the PD. Looks like you have just started the process, you have some time to wait. Even if there were no retrogression. This is only the beginning. Do you actually have approval on the I-140 and the payment made, and then there is the DS-230.

    CIR Update

    Kennedy-McCain Bill to be re-introduced this week

    *Also note that Pres. Bush has just gone through Latin America and still is currently in Mexico and the theme there is Immigration Reform. He will be back in the US by wed., the same week where the Kennedy-McCain Bill will be re-introduced. Least to say, this will be an interesting week or so. We will have a better picture of things to come or not to come in this week and the next.
    And the bills being discussed today about immigration reform also are including illegal drug in the US. Not a good combination.

    The Kennedy bill is the same bill that proposed to remove any cap on nurses and PTs. This is good news indeed.

    Here, this is an excerpt from that link impt. for nurses:

    The bill would exempt the following classifications of immigrants from all numerical caps:

    * Persons of extraordinary ability;
    * Outstanding professors and researchers;
    * Persons with national interest waivers;
    * Persons with advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering and math ("STEM") and three years experience working on a nonimmigrant visa in the U.S. in a related field. STEM applicants would qualify for more flexible special handling labor certification procedures;
    * Registered nurses and physical therapists until 2017. Overall, the committee bill would overhaul the outdated employment-based preference system, insure that our country has access to the best and the brightest professionals from around the world, and would provide enough additional EB visas to eliminate the backlogs which have developed during the past year.

    *Note: Pres. Bush just recently mentioned in a speech in Guatemala that he expects CIR to be done by August but of course anything can happen in-between that may hamper this, esp. since some provisions in the CIR (not related to nurses and provisions in the EB system) are controversial. Also, there are other provisions being attached as an amendment to diff. bills such as the 90,000 visa re-capture for RNs and PTs so that we won't rely on the CIR alone for relief.

    90,000 visa re-capture update ("Hutchinson Amendment")

    The S. 4 Bill (Improving America's Security Act of 2007) was passed yesterday but w/o the Hutchinson Amendment.

    The Hutchinson amendment will be attach to another bill by Easter.

    This is a set back for schedule A..I think any immigrant related amendement will not happen outside CIR at the moment.

    Hard to tell. I also have my doubts on CIR, even though Pres. Bush said he wants it resolved by August. I wish they just do it in tranches and leave out the controversial provisions for further discussions and just pass the less controversial ones, such as the provisions for the EB system (including Schedule A, of course).
