by UserMark Jan 28, '10I'm working on a research project and was hoping someone can help me understand who NP's normally report to in hospitals. I.e., Unit Nurse Director / Manager, Physicians, etc.
Does it depend on the size of the hospital as well? Thank you for your help!

- Feb 2, '10 by juan de la cruzThere are many types of practice models even in a single hospital. Some NP's report ultimately to a physician director or chief but may have a lead NP who oversees the entire group of NP's within the practice. Some NP's report solely to a physician who may not hold an administrative position within the hospital. Some NP's report to the nursing service department and may have a nurse manager as a boss. There are probably other variations to these models and the exact percentages of where NP's fit in these models are not really well published.
