Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013

Hi All,

There doesn't seem to be a thread yet for pre-specialty applicants (the thread going now seems to consist mostly of grad entry), so I thought I'd start one! Any other pre-specialty folks out there? I am from Seattle and applied for the PMHNP track.

Looking forward to seeing who turns up!

Sarah

This is going to be the longest month ever!

I just bought my plane ticket! I'll be at the preview weekend, sans boyfriend, but we'll definitely have to set them up for a man date!

I know admissions is saying decision will go out first week of March, but last year the first letters were received 2/20 and 22--I wonder if we might hear sooner?

Aww haha, he sounds like a keeper for coming along for the ride though! My boyfriend and I have both been from here forever... it'll be a big leap for both of us but a welcomed one. If it happens, we'll have to get them together for a man date!

I'm hoping to see that financial aid packet soon! Glad to hear it's on the way!!

Sarah, maybe u will get a decision while you're on campus. Couldn't hurt to ask while you're there.

@ Jason - =) it would be a great place to get that good news!

a question to everyone about financial aid--I was surprised the "packet" included just two sheets of paper! Is that what everyone else got? Do you know what they mean when they say information will be sent to our email address?

I took it to mean that if we get in we'll get information about applying for financial aid. It doesn't make any sense to apply for no reason - and they can't give us an aid "package" with details if they don't know who is coming and what their FAFSAs look like. So it was much more a 'primer' than a 'packet' and nothing to get too excited about, but it at least gives some beginning steps and cost ideas!

Haha yeah my "packet" was two sheets of paper as well. Pretty anti-climactic! I don't know what information will be sent to our email address. I'm just planning on going about doing FAFSA as I've done for the past four years already.

Actually I think they do suggest applying for FAFSA before we find out if we are admitted. I remember applying for undergrad before I was even admitted to the school I'm finishing up at now. The priority deadlines might be quickly approaching by the time we find out.

Completing the FAFSA is different than applying for financial aid through Vanderbilt (or any school). Definitely we should all complete the FAFSA as soon as our taxes are done, since you need the FAFSA for aid, but I meant to say that we're not going to get details on an aid package from (or any school) until we're actually admitted. I know last year they said aid was due March 1st but I didn't see that date on this years packet (I might have missed it!) so I think the e-mail will be follow-up with those instructions.

Oh sorry I misinterpreted what you said!

It's okay I was being confusing as well! I was getting the impression (from other threads too) that people were expecting an aid number in the envelope, and that just wouldn't make sense! But yes, now that we're done applying for schools, it's onto FAFSA, school aid, and scholarships! At least we'll be busy while we wait.

Columbia letters went out today--got in for PMHNP! Anyone else apply there? is my first choice, but it feels great to know I am accepted to at least one program, and a great one at that!

Is there anyone out there who did Not get a financial aid packet? I'm kind of getting concerned because I didn't receive one.
