Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty (for non-RNs) MSN 2013

Hi All,

There doesn't seem to be a thread yet for pre-specialty applicants (the thread going now seems to consist mostly of grad entry), so I thought I'd start one! Any other pre-specialty folks out there? I am from Seattle and applied for the PMHNP track.

Looking forward to seeing who turns up!

Sarah

Has anyone gotten the financial aid packet yet?

I have not received the financial aid packet yet either. Anyone?

Just got an interview for FNP!! Not sure when it is because I missed the call and she left a voicemail, but I should be emailed soon.

So they are interviewing for FNP too? I thought they where only interviewing for mental health specialties.

I also haven't received a financial aid packet yet.

PMHNP always requires an interview, but according to their website "Other specialties may require an interview as well." I'm not sure if they are interviewing ALL FNP applicants, the ones they are interested in, or the ones they want some additional information about. When I talked to someone from admissions in December, it kind of sounded to me that if you don't get an interview you shouldn't automatically assume you're not getting in. There has been a lot of confusion regarding interviews on here though, so I don't know what to think.

I am a little confused as to when we hear about admissions. I have heard beginning to end of March and then I heard today from another applicant that it could be as soon as mid-February. Anyone heard that? I'm applying to PMHNP.

Just had my interview, went really well! The professor I talked to even reccomended reading that pertained to my interests. It was great to hear more about the specialty year as well. Bet we'll see financial aid packets soon...

I received an email for a FNP interview as well!

Congrats, Jason! When is your interview? Mine is scheduled for the morning of February 12th. I was hoping to get it out of the way a little sooner, but oh well. Good luck!

Sarah, I did get the feeling from the interview that the trip down might not be a waste of time. The interviewer suggested it would be a good idea as well. Also, my fiance and I are interested in going to Nashville at some point in the future one way or another (he's a musician), so I figure the trip will be worth it. Also, glad to see your interview went well!! Did it help you decide whether the trip might be worth your while??

Hi all. I applied to the NMW/FNP direct entry program. I'm anxiously awaiting an email or call to schedule an interview. Is there anyone else here who applied to this specialty? I corresponded with an admissions counselor who told me that the faculty will be contacting only those students who they are interested in admitting (at least for NMW/FNP). Hoping for the best.
