Vanderbilt Grad Entry 2012 Application

Hello! I have seen forums for the previous years' application cycles, but not for the class starting fall 2012.

Sooo... how's it going for everyone? I take the GRE on Friday (gah!) so of course I'm trying to avoid studying for that!

Hi there pink.berry....

I do not have any experience either! Are you going to the open house next week? As for the writing score....I am nervous about it too. I did the Score-it-now practice. I did achieve a 5 on it some of the time, but other times I only scored a 4. Waiting until November is the hardest part for me because I am not feeling very patient....lol.

If you dont mind me asking, how did you do on your verbal and quantitive portion?

Hi macl1234

Is nursing your first degree? and no, unfortunately :(. Verbal 580-680, Quant 750-800 yes, the wait until november is no fun at all. if you go to the open house please let me know how it is! Maybe they'll give you a better idea of how much experience really matters

@pinkberry: Why are you deciding to leave emory? Don't they have a cnm/fnp program as well? I would love some of your thoughts about this because i'm looking into emory

I will let you know how the open house goes!

Yes, they do. I love the school at Emory but am also trying to keep an open mind. Emory has great faculty and the students are very helpful for the most part. Are you applying to the cnm/fnp program for 2012?

Im considering applying for the pre-specialty and PMHNP program, but I will have a degree in social work in May of 2012. I'll have to take my prerequisites during the summer of 2012. Does that mean I won't get a letter of acceptance or denial until I finish these courses? I just now started looking into this program, so I don't know much about it. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that you can still apply without taking all the pre-reqs, but from what I have heard, your application won't have much weight if you still haven't done ANY of them by that time. Truth be told, I'm sure there is someone out there who has done it, but I think they use those basic, basic pre-reqs to get the best representation of how you will do in nursing school. And you must have completed some by then... how can you do all of those in only one quarter!!:D

Craaaap. I'm hoping to try one in the spring and the rest over 2 summer semesters. I wish I would have known about this field and program a year or two ago. Oh well, it won't hurt to send in an application anyways.

How was the open house macl?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

So I am almost ready to submit my application, but I had a question. On the school website it says that transcripts are part of the application process, but on the application website and the email they send it says not to submit transcripts until after and offer of admission has been extended to you. I have already sent in all of my transcripts, and I hope that I did not mess up my application by doing so. Every other school I am applying to requires the as part of the application. Did everyone else send them in?

I sent them in, too! I just thought it was a normal part of the application process... And then I got nervous when I saw that same thing saying don't send them in unless they request them. Oh wells. Not much I can do about it now...

just talked to admissions, you need to submit official copies of your transcripts....so good call!
