Calling all UT Memphis DNP student together, including alumni. Let's network! Ask any questions about any particular program you are in or know about. I will start.

I have been a nurse 2 years and plan to start the DNP Acute Care program in August 2013. I'm looking for any advice, a list of books, or other materials we may have to buy for school. I also was wondering if anyone knows how the program will run. Lets get to know each other. :yes:

Hey everyone, class is slowly approaching. Does anyone have any ideal about lab coats and any equipment we need to bring? I also see there is a gathering at TJ Mulligan, will anyone be attending?

The lab jackets are to be no longer the your finger tips when standing with your arms at your side to my understanding. The is a Landau store across the street from the school and I was told that they know what's required. We also need a reflex hammer. I know I'll attend some of the social events hadn't decided which ones.

I talked with a student and was told professional business attire (especially when the visiting speaker is there). I'm packing pants, dress shirts,

skirts, heels, and flats. She said there might be one day webcam wear jeans but I'm not 100% on that.

Please let me know when you find out about the lab coat and if it had to have the logo on it. Also if there is any equipment we may need. I saw it had reflex hammer.

I found out that the lab coat has to be just below your bottom. Not the short med student ones or the long doctor ones. I'm in the acute care program and that's what Thompson wants. I think the FNP program wants something different. If you're in a different one, I'd email your advisor to double check

I'd love to meet you all since we've been helping each other through this all summer. Message me numbers too if y'all want! And 2blessedrn, where are you seeing social events? Also 2BlessesRN, I just saw where you asked about husband and kids etc... I'm 26, married, no kids, and have been an ICU RN for 4 years. Haha wow- sorry about not seeing that MONTHS ago!

Hey SICURN01, I'm in all those classes! We could definitely study together if you want. I live downtown near mud island. What part of Memphis do you live? I'm in both the acute care and FNP. There's a social event for both, but there's a social event for everyone at TJ Mulligan.
