TX nursing student relocating to LA after graduation

I am currently an FNP student in TX. My husband is relocating to Baton Rouge, LA and I will follow upon graduation in May '13. I have been researching NP positions via internet, but have had difficulty. I find it hard to believe there are so few positions that I am finding. I have always enjoyed the aspect of networking. Does anyone have suggestions of how to network long distance in preparation for relocation?
