Published

Aloha, I have a 2 year degree form Excelsior college, looking at starting RN-BSN or RN-MSN at , however my goal is to complete NP education with specialty in behavioral health. Any advice ? I work full time and this program is doable with my schedule, have been a RN for 5 years about 7 years as LPN prior. Let me know what you guys think ?

Hi there!!

I was looking into the RN-MSN with as well; however, they do not offer you a GPA to transfer your MSN to another school. So, lets say you do your MSN with WGU and want to do a post masters at ASU because its cheaper. the problem is they wont accept it. :-(

If your goal is an MSN I suggest going for it, but at an accredited school that will offer you the ability to transfer with a GPA. GCU has an RN to MSN program and a FNP program. It's accredited and affordable but I have heard it is "easy As" and people aren't learning anything.

I am going to start the GCU RN-MSN program next month. Like you I have been an LVN for a long time. I have a two year degree, and a BS in a related feild but not nursing.

Maybe we can buddy up and help each other through the GCU msn program. It is approximately 14-18 months long.

06/19/2013 Thank you for your reply,

Would you please send me some more info about GCU is that GrandCanYonUNI ? or something else ? Also have you heard anything about Walden ? I would love to have someone to push me along when I get stagnant :) pls feel free to shoot me a email at [email protected]

thanks so much,

Specializes in Nursing Education, CVICU, Float Pool.

A recent (2012) RN to MSN just told us on the our social networking group page that she got full acceptance for the Post-Masters FNP Certificate at SJCME!!!! It can be done, she's living proof!!!!

thats great for her however, that route is going to be tough, and unfortunately not one most people have time for.
