NP unable to find job...looking for RN job but having interview difficulty!

Hello friends! I am having a bit of a predicament. I have recently graduated from a NP program but am having a difficult time finding a job (not a surprise I am hearing). I am now trying to work as an RN in my area of specialty but because I have a masters/NP license, I really don't know how to present myself? Any ideas? Will they think that I am not 100% invested because I will just up and leave when I get a NP job?

I don't want them to think that my interview is a waste of their time and I would solidly work as a RN for at least a year until I find a NP job but how to make that not sound horrible? Thanks in advance for your help and advice :-)

This is tough, because they know if you find something your probably going to leave. So are you working as a nurse now? Just keep trying

Can I ask which NP track you are in?

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

What about contacting your states APN organization? Are you able to move?

Hmm...what about per diem for the time being? I mean you could still leave, but I feel that per diem has less obligations? I'm sure plenty of NP's work per diem every once in a while. You could say, I want to keep up with my RN skills. I believe that is more believable. Perhaps you can pick up as many shifts until that job comes a long. Not too much would be invested if and when you decide to leave. Good Luck.

I have heard of different places starting some NPs out as RNs and transitioning them after a certain amount of time/experience. Maybe you could suggest something like that.
