Help! I've tried calling & emailing the BRN & I've searched on line & I'm still confused about getting a CA NP furnishing number. I get the advanced pharm coursework requirement but what I haven't found an answer to is whether having worked well over 520 hrs as a prescribing NP in another state (Oregon) "counts" toward getting a furnishing number. Oregon doesn't require standard protocols (procedures - whatever CA calls them) or MD supervision. The Medical Director where I worked has moved on but I was thinking maybe I could hunt him down and ask him to sign something about being my supervisor for X amount of time (which is true) ... but could this even work w/o the standard pro.'s?
Does anyone know or have dealt with this or know who I could contact who might know?
I asked the advanced practice coordinator at the Oregon Board of Nursing - a state small enough that we've actually met in person - what Oregon NPs do if they move to California. Her answer: "They don't."
