AANP FNP Certification Exam ---urgent HELP needed pleaseeeee

Hi Everyone:

I really really need some advice regarding the AANP FNP exam.

I graduated last May from my FNP program. I had planned to take the exam right away but family issues occurred (my MIL was diagnosed w terminal cancer). With my already hectic life , I wasn't able to dedicate as much time or study the way I normally do. I decided to take the AANP even though my program recommended the AANC, bc i thought i could hardly get through clinical material, much less theory etc.. but now im in total panic bc everyone on this site seems to think the AANP was harder?

My problem is there are too many distractions, and I can't focus. I have been studying on and off which is worse because I notice I tend to forget the stuff I had studied before. Furthermore, since I've been out of school for 11 months I have forgotten some basic material ex labs and dx tests, a lot of the meds etc.

I have listened to the Fitzgerald CDs once but very spaced out during the past few months.

I just got the Leik book and some exams on exam edge.

I also bought the Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam: Review Questions and Strategies book (which I keep scoring 50-62 on).

I'm very worried bc I keep scoring so low on the questions in that book, in addition I score bw 440 - 590 on the AANP exams from exam edge (500 is passing).

I've passed 3/10.

I have to take this exam next Wednesday (in 5 days). Do I have a chance?

With such limited time -is it best to focus on :

1. review Fitzgerald?

2. Do AANP questions from exam edge and read rationales

Or

3. Make sure I read the Leik book?

I will not have time for all if it.

And I have NO idea what the actual exam is more similar to? Fitzgerald material ? Exam edge ? Or the Leik book? This is what I really NEED to know. U can also email me at [email protected]

Please please HELP asap -if u have taken this exam, ESP if u recently 2013 took it? I can not Fail it w the other stuff that's going on w family.

Thank you soooo much.

Congrats in passing the exam!! Lot's of hard work and well deserved!!

Quick question, you mentioned the "test bank" where you've completed questions. Where or who did you complete the questions bank from?

Did you find using Fitzgerald & Liek were the best options to use for studying?

Thank you for your thoughts!! Congrats again for a new adventure

Test questions from www.familynpprep.com/

Both leik an fitz helpful-Fitzgerald organized and explanation a bit long winded but very helpful her review questions very useful, case scenarios are useful to me especially diabetes., dyslipidemia. If not a lot of time to review leiks review manual Is concise- her online review very choppy and not professionally organized but still useful.

Took the ancc exam

Thank You for your thoughts. Did you wait to review for the NP Exam once you completed the program or did you start reviewing through the program. I have a year left and was considering to start reviewing a little by little to make sure I solid. What are your suggestions? If I did start reviewing, which book would be more beneficial. Overall, I will end up purchasing both plus the study questions. Also, just want to make sure I understand, but you mentioned "Leiks" manual is concise... Is this correct? Meaning, you felt it was more like the material or questions you had on the exam?

Thank You again for your assistance.

Hi

ot would be beneficial to review early but I was overwhelmed in school with work etc

Fitzgerald was allot of content but helps yu understand which was helpful to answer questions and in real life, leik was way more concise and complimented Fitzgerald toward the end closer to exam for me to help recall and focus so it was not so overwhelming

the content is what was helpful for leik and where to focus yr efforts. If I would do it over would like to have audio for leik and her book identify from there my week areas then compliment those with Fitzgerald hope this all helps I'm thinking of starting some sort of help site or review for exam bit farther dine the line. I live hawaii so online format probably useful to others best regards

I did the Barkley Review when he came down to Miami in 2012 plus I also downloaded Fitzgerald audio which put me to sleep every single time. APEA CDs were awesome and she gave fantastic ways to remember certain things. Plus I did review in Leik and the Claborn book. I passed in September of that year after sitting only 1 hour and a half! I was really prepared for the AANP.

What were your predictor exam scores like? I have purchased three from APEA with 79, 79, and 81. I graduated from my MSN program 5/27 and I want to get this exam OVER WITH. Thanks in advance.
