The print ones can easily be worn shopping, do lawn work, maybe do grocery shopping. However, what in the world do you do with those smiley face scrubs that were all the rage a few years ago, those Minnie Mouse sets you just couldn't live without, the cutesy scrubs that work at work but can't make it even at WalMart? Well....there's always the Goodwill donation center. What do you do with all your old scrubs?

Specializes in ICU.

I think of scrubs as "cheap" also, probably because when I worked in the business world (accountant) I had to wear suit skirts and heels. I do NOT wear mine outside of work. After I have worked in scrubs all week, the last thing I want to wear is scrubs!

I give them to my neighbor who cuts out what she wants and makes quilts. She does a very good job with them. Otherwise I wear them around the house, etc. Very comfortable.

Some have gone to the Sally Ann, you know the bad purchase, it looked like a good idea but never fit right or was comfortable.

Others have been cut up for the quilting supplies.

]I have so many slightly used uniforms I can count them. I have uniforms for the seasons, for the holidays and just because I liked them.

I could use a suggestion or 2.

What about nurses in some of the under served countries does anybody have a charity like this in mind?

A lot of those countries are still in white tunics and colour pants, uniforms are often strictly enforced. What about free clinics? I'm sure the nurses that are there would appreciate a vacuum up pair or 2 for the inevitable explosions of blood and vomit. These are local and would not have a stock of scrubs.

Specializes in LTC.

They get listed on ebay

old scrubs....usually throw them away because they have holes in the thighs and the pocket fell off.

Specializes in Med/surg, ER/ED,rehab ,nursing home.

if in good condition I give them to my neighbor to use for quilt fabric. Mine wear out around the neck area binding. Rest in good shape. Or I send them off to good will. That is where my daughter buys hers for her "sitter/helper " jobs.

Old scrubs are faded and appear tacky. I think they should be thrown away.

Specializes in UR, QA, OB-GYN, MS, PEDS, LTC.

Sold the nice ones on Ebay, chucked the others out.

I make the pants into cutoffs to wear around the house, mow the lawn, etc. Old lab jackets are really good for working in the garden, pulling weeds, etc-you don't get all itchy or bitten up by mosquitos. Plus you have pockets to stick stuff in.
